Forty-eight hours before the end, Cassini turned back for one last look. In the early afternoon of September 13, 2017, the probe recorded this portrait of Saturn and its main rings—then continued inward, toward a planned plunge into the planet’s hazy atmosphere.
It was the closing frame of a mission that had spent years threading the gaps between those rings, mapping moons, and watching storms roll across a world no spacecraft had studied so closely. The image is quiet. The ending was not: two days later Cassini burned up as it fell, protecting the moons it had helped reveal from any chance of contamination.
We still miss it.

“Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.”
- Jean Cocteau
Jean Cocteau (1889–1963) was an extraordinarily versatile French artist who rarely confined himself to a single creative pursuit. He wrote poetry and novels, directed films, designed ballets, and constantly drew. In 1929, while recovering in a clinic, he completed Les Enfants Terribles in just 17 days. Years later, during its film adaptation, Cocteau became so absorbed in production that he reportedly yelled “cut” during a scene, prompting director Jean-Pierre Melville to remove him from the set.
Even a vacation in southern France became an artistic undertaking. While staying at the villa of his friend Francine Weisweiller, Cocteau initially asked permission to make a drawing above the fireplace. He soon expanded far beyond that small project, eventually covering walls, ceilings, and furnishings with roughly 200 works. He affectionately described the transformed home as his “tattooed villa,” with artists such as Picasso and Matisse encouraging his creativity.
Cocteau brought the same imagination to filmmaking. Decades before digital effects existed, he created surreal illusions using remarkably simple techniques. To make characters appear to move through mirrors, he filmed reflective pools of liquid mercury from above, while reversed footage allowed unnatural movements to appear strangely convincing.
Throughout his life, Cocteau seemed capable of turning almost anything into a canvas for his imagination. A novel could emerge in a matter of days, a friend’s home could become an enormous artwork, and an ordinary mirror could be transformed into a mysterious passageway to another world.
Femininity is a healthy manipulative weapon... At times I find myself hypnotized by a feminine lady. It can be weaponized because it's such a rare commodity these days.
Young man:
Take it from someone who knows the importance of a father & the impact of losing one. Forgive your father for not playing his part as you think he ought to have. Enough with the accusations & belittling “If my father was rich, I won’t be suffering today” or “What was he doing when his mates were making money?”, it’s not like his father passed wealth to him & he wasted it
Once you start making money & have people depend on you for their survival, you’d know how hard a father’s role is. I believe fathers aren’t appreciated enough, a lot of them do embarrassing jobs, take disrespect from their bosses, work endlessly barely resting, just to make money to take care of their families
Even if your father is a poor man, still respect him. Know this, no man will be at peace with him being unable to provide for his home. He might not show it, but it eats him every single day. And don't think he's too lazy to think of plan or implement it, life happens, things don't always go according to plan. But know this, every father wishes to be a father his children would be proud of
That your father is a drunkard isn't a reason to disrespect him. Sometimes the only escape he has from thoughts of failing to live up to your expectations is through the bottle. Cut him slack, nothing stresses a man than the inability to give his children the world
Respect your father regardless of his status in society & his financial situation. You have to obey him. You have to love him. You must understand his life path & mistakes. You are a man, you will make mistakes as well. Respect him. Learn OR perish!!!
@Barstooldmv@WashWizards I approve of what the new front office has done. A mid build with two young players in Kuzma and Poole with sizable contracts but both have championship experience to lead this new roster.
Western culture is a scam for men.
You get up early to pay for a house, you hardly live in, you don't own the land it sits on, to pay a mortgage to a bank that lent you pretend money made out of thin air you pay interest on they didn't even have on deposit in a vault...
To drive a car, that is primarily used to get to and from work, usually on congested and broken roads, your tax money never seem to fix...
To pay 30-50% income tax to the government for a JOB, designed to keep you 'just over broke' while the government spends your money on programs you generally don't agree with...
To buy stuff with a sales tax with money we have already paid income taxes on, to impress people we don't even like, with things we generally don't even care about.
And if you do well with your investments, with income you've already been taxed on, you pay more tax on tax, in the form of capital gains tax to the government on money you took the risk on investing.
All this usually to impress a woman enough to commit to you, that has already shared her body with dozens of other men, that brings baggage to the table, that if you live with or marry, can take half your shit, and your kids, if she changes her mind about you.
What did I miss?
