McCarran's low temp last night was 81F!
🥵🌡️
That is the warmest low temp ever recorded in the month of April for #LasVegas, AND blows the old record of 74F for 4/30 out of the water!
💥
Unless we dip below 81F before 12a, 81F is our new record!

@NiaWong Anecdotally in WA, friends have been trying to call for file a claim, sometimes dozens of times a day, and haven't been able to get through. So the # is surely higher there.
Well, I can report that the local ice cream truck is still a going concern in this era of 'non-essential' business closures. I hear the iconic ice cream truck jingle from my house. (Said jingle is totally, and sadly, racist, by the way: https://t.co/NpT9cGjcv8)
A firm looked at "Change in distance traveled each day" w/ social distancing. Clark County, which includes Las Vegas, appears be one of the few where travel has INCREASED. https://t.co/fjW4PBWMNn
The adventure continues! 🐧🐧
This morning, Edward and Annie explored Shedd’s rotunda. They are a bonded pair of rockhopper penguins, which means they are together for nesting season. Springtime is nesting season for penguins at Shedd, and this year is no different! (1/3) 👇
I'm working from home like many people and figured I'd just do the Census to get that over with. I thought it'd be a ~30-min thing but I did it online in about 2 mins on the @uscensusbureau website. It's very easy (and important) to do here: https://t.co/dIXTujtMgR
It’s underappreciated that we’re shutting America down precisely because we don’t have enough tests to look for the big outbreaks.
It’s not only that we missed our chance at containment. It’s that we don’t know which cities are worst, so we have to flatten the curve everywhere.
Las Vegas casinos owned by Wynn Resorts and MGM Resorts International will temporarily close in response to the growing coronavirus pandemic, shuttering much of the famed Strip https://t.co/0ckwctWQ6o
With MGM, Wynn, and Clark County School District announcing closures, it seems like a MAJORITY of Nevada's largest county's top employers could be closed to start the work week tomorrow. (Worth a fact check, of course.)

Thank you, @OregonGovBrown! This executive order is the right thing to do and reflects the urgency of the climate crisis. We need courage over cowardice and Oregon is showing that leadership today. It's time for people to take priority over polluters and their friends in power.
It's time we put Oregon on a path our children can be proud of. Today I issued an executive order setting new science-based climate goals, and directing state agencies to take urgent action to lower greenhouse gas emissions and address climate change. https://t.co/AnDSpsHeaN
.@LVCVA board next unanimously approves spending $10.5 million for a 600K sq ft solar photovoltaic array on the roof of the new West Hall under construction. The system will cover about 3/4 of the roof and have a 25-year life cycle. Contract will go to SunPower Corp.
