Here is my extremely spoiler-heavy review for Digger (link below). The long and the short of it is that it is a masterpiece, albeit one which is open to many possible critiques and misinterpretations.
Review coming later, but preliminary thoughts on DIGGER:
While there are some critiques I understand, appreciate, and take seriously, I think a lot of critics (especially American ones) are coming away feeling attacked. The claims of didacticism are extremely overblown.
Amanda Seyfried says the marketing for Jennifer’s Body ruined what she considers a perfect movie.
Amanda Seyfried: “I can’t critique this movie. To me, it’s a perfect movie. It’s got balls.”
“Diablo Cody was outspoken and beautiful and smart and funny, and we were expressing a certain angst in a very, very specific comedic way, in a very specific genre.”
“The special effects were incredible. There were stunts, there was, like, everything that you could want, and girl-on-girl action.”
“If the critics criticized anything, it would be the marketing. The marketing sucked. It just did. And we all agree.”
“Karyn is a fierce advocate of women and storytelling. She’s able to enhance the relationships between women on film and TV. She’s very human and very sensitive, and I felt like she cared deeply about the story underneath all of it.”
“She got it all and she put it together so beautifully. And the marketing team cheapened it. Like it was just, you know, a romp, a gory romp. I think they ruined it.”
“I’m looking forward to the sequel. They’re working on it. I already said thumbs up. I was like, whenever you’re ready, I’m ready.”
“I want to play Needy. I love Needy.”

Amanda Seyfried admits she milked fainting on the set of Les Misérables because Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe were doting on her.
Amanda Seyfried: “I remember fainting because it was hot and the corset was tight, and I don’t know why else, but I was like, ‘I’m going to faint.’”
“I kind of sat back on the ground because I knew I was going to faint. And it was huge. Everybody was there. Sasha, Helena, Russell, Hugh, Sam, everybody.”
“I woke up because I was only out for seconds. It wasn’t even smelling salts that woke me. But I did the full faint because, you know what your body’s doing.”
“Hugh was right here, and Russell was at my feet, and I was just like, ‘This is the best.’”
“I milked it for like two hours.”
“I was very aware that Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe were doting on me in such a way that I didn’t know I needed until that day.”
“And then I fainted every day to the end of the shoot.”
“I was kidding. Should have.”
