At last night's Board of Supervisors Meeting, Fire Warden/Director of Emergency Services Erik Klevmyr had the privilege of honoring our local firefighters for their response to the LA area fires in January.
Chief Klevmyr remarked, "California is no stranger to large-scale wildfires. Each year, we experience tragedies that far exceed the capacity and resources of one fire organization. Each time, the fire service relies on the coordination, dedication, and expertise of all stepping up to provide support for these large firefighting operations throughout the State."
In early January, 58 local firefighters and volunteers representing the following agencies provided invaluable support to Los Angeles: Burbank-Paradise, Denair, Keyes, Modesto, Patterson, Stanislaus Consolidated, Turlock City, Turlock Rural, Woodland Avenue, Westport, and West Stanislaus fire departments.
From all of us in Stanislaus County, THANK YOU! 🚒

Here’s a report and scenes from the Stanislaus area Firefighters in Los Angeles:
In the early hours of January 8th, crews from across Stanislaus County were deployed to assist in Los Angeles with the #EatonFire, according to Stanislaus Consolidated Fire.
Four members from Stanislaus Consolidated, along with a strike team leader and a trainee from Modesto Fire, as well as units from West Stanislaus Fire, Burbank Paradise Fire, Denair Fire, and Turlock Rural Fire, formed XST 4200C.
Upon arrival, the crews were immediately assigned to an area in Altadena that was heavily impacted by extreme winds and fire. This area consisted of multiple residential and commercial buildings. Gusts of wind peaked at up to 80 mph in some areas, with sustained winds of 40-50 mph.
The crews worked tirelessly throughout the day without rest to save multiple homes and businesses in the area.
As night fell, they tactically patrolled the neighborhood, mitigated hazards, and extinguished several fires that could have caused further structural loss in a community already severely affected.
As of this morning, January 9th, the #EatonFire has burned over 10,000 acres.
The crews will take the next 24 hours to recover and refuel before being reassigned to the fire.
