For soldiers, sacrifice does not begin in war; it begins in training.

I lost vision in my left eye during my first posting in RR Delta Force. Another coursemate lost both legs in an IED blast in RR. This is the reality, soldiers face death and disability at every step, from training grounds to war zones and frozen frontiers.

When soldiers lose life or limb in service to the nation, support through continued service, institutional care, and tax free disability pension is not charity it is a moral national obligation.

SSB Screening: Is it the best option?
SSB [Sevices Selection Board] testing is what sets the armed forces apart when it comes to the selection procedure. It is one of the toughest test procedures and unique in many ways.
When we went for the SSB, we were put through the complete regime extending over a number of days, and the selection or rejection would happen after a thorough testing.
However, for a few years now, an additional screening has been introduced. This stage screens out many (or most of the candidates) before allowing the selected ones to go for the good'old process of thorough testing procedure. On the face of it, the system looks good as it reduces the workload load by eliminating those who fall short of the benchmark.
But there is a deep issue here. An on ground analysis has proved that many deserving candidates who passed the second phase (thorough testing) were actually screened out during the experiment. That means many deserving candidates don't get to cross the first hurdle that is short, crisp, but much arbitrary compared to the second phase.
In an organisation where a shortage of officers has now become a systemic problem, can we afford to lose out on talents (not to mention the demoralising impact on such candidates) just because the selection workload needs to be handled? In a nation surrounded by rogue neighbours, can we afford such a situation? If additional selection centres or testing staff is required, so be it. We must pick the best but only after giving them a fair chance. Isn't it strange that a candidate who has cleared the SSB once but gets left out of the final selection list due to merit or any other reason, gets screened out in the next SSB? To help the non-iniatiated, SSB testing focuses on psychological aspects and not on the knowledge of any subject. So, if one has been found psychologically fit to be an officer through a detailed testing today, how can she or he be rejected through a short screening test tomorrow?
This issue needs to be revisited.

Now my two pence. Service series awards (VSM, AVSM and PVSM) are awarded for rendering exceptional service. While PVSM and AVSM are invariably awarded for continued dedication over a longer period (and thus generally to senior officers only), VSM could well be awarded for a specific act. Since the officer is from a technical service, we may not know exactly which project it was awarded for, but presuming it was awarded for a media briefing would be unfair unless proved otherwise. There are many projects and related work that officers undertake, achieving exceptional results.

Have seen it happen with @BSF_India and have now seen it in @crpfindia .
An officer with 15 years of service is still an Assistant Commandant (DSP equivalent) while an IPS will be a DIG by now. The worst part is both these forces are ruled by IPS! Once PMF and now CAPF, these two outfits' role is much bigger than policing duties. What training or experience do the IPS officers have to decide their fate?
Leave aside promotions and ultimate rise, such a stagnation saps your energy. One should be commanding a battalion at 15 or 16 years of service! Tired bodies and souls do no good.
#PoliceReforms are long pending and even the court rulings are not getting implemented.
As the 0.5 front raises its hood, it is more important to reform our forces that deal with the internal security and hold ground like Infantry when needed. Let IPS stay in police, intelligence agency and elsewhere.

Look at the audacity and if you ask for an evidence, they will cite one speech by Ved Bhasin (sheikh abdullah's tool) while ignoring what Ved Bhasin's own brother had to say about Ved Bhasin's claims.
Anyway, leaving Bhasins aside for a while, look at the narrative:
1. If hypothetically, this claim is true, how is Kashmir bleeding when that allegedly happened in Jammu? Needless to say the two regions didn't even have a all weather road connecting the two.
2. On 27 October, the Indian Army landed in Srinagar and all the State Forces came under the Indian Army. The state police had more than 40% Muslims. Brig Allah Baksh was earlier Brigade commander of Jammu Brigade and later became Maharaja's advisor. Further, Maharaja, having signed the IoA, had handed over the administration to Sheikh whose acts actually led to Mirpur massacre. So, who was using which force to kill Muslims? Since such narrative builders don't have answers, they are now refraining from blaming Maharaja Hari Singh whom they used to blame earlier.
3. The census data of 1941 doesn't support the number of Muslims killed as per such claims. There were never 2.5 Lakh in Jammu to start with.

Does this mean no Muslim was killed in Jammu? No! There were a few who were killed; many migrated and quite a few of those migrated were brought back by Sheikh. So, why were they killed? Because Hindus hated them for being Muslims? No, again. Whatever little happened in Jammu was a reaction to massive massacres of Mirpur (18k), राजौरी (30k), Bhimber (3k) and so on. Many Hindus and Sikhs who couldn't reach Punjab, entered J&K from Sialkot side, bringing in the tales of massacres of non Muslims in Pakistani Punjab. Public reaction was spontaneous at many places.

I have no issues with ppl trying to bring in such facts into the public discourse but I do have problems when they get selective and do it with an agenda. Will this historian tell his audience how many Muslim ladies were raped and taken to Peshawar by the invaders who entered Kashmir on 22 Oct?
Oct, as the things stand, comes before November. How come one remembers November but has no clue about October?

इस बार पाकिस्तान ने anti tank हथियार भेज दिए ड्रोन द्वारा। भुल्लर के सात करोड़ रुपये सात करोड़ भारतीयो को मरवायेंगे।

सरकारी प्रशिक्षण संस्थानों में भ्रष्टाचार के मुंबई धमाकों जैसे परिणामों की केस स्टडी कराई जाती है या नहीं? या हर कोई जो मिल जाए समेट कर विदेश जाने की जुगत में है?

मुअज्जिनों (सहायकों) को: प्रति माह 16,000 रुपये (वक्फ बोर्ड के बाहर मस्जिदों के लिए इमामों को 14,000 रुपये और सहायकों को 12,000 रुपये) दे रही है. वहीं मध्यप्रदेश में इमामों (मौलवियों) को: प्रति माह 5,000 रुपये।
मुअज्जिनों (सहायकों) को: प्रति माह 4,500 रुपयेभाजपा दे रही है, और भी न जाने कितने उदाहरण है, कितने कुकृत्य है इस भाजपा के जो मुख पे भगवा है पीछे जालीदार और नीली टोपी पहन रखी है.
कहने का मतलब ये है की दुश्मन सामने से स्पष्ट दिखाई दे तो लड़ाई आसान होती है, और इसके ठीक उलट दुश्मन आपके आस्तीन में हो तो बचना मुश्किल है।

200-year-old Shiva Temple in Bijbihara (Kashmir) is in danger. Situated on the bank of a stream that got flooded recently, it survived the floods. But what govt engineers working on flood issues did was stupid. Instead of strengthening the bank, they dug the bank so much that the Nandi ji is now on the verge of collapsing.
A clear cut case of willfully damaging such an ancient temple that once, prior to Sheikh Abdullah's land reorganisation act, had 3200 Kanals of land. It used to be an important stop for Shri Amarnath Yatra. After gobbling all its land, the authorities seem to be hell-bent upon destroying it in the name of widening the riverbed.
