One day, history may record that India celebrated the resignation of the very man who did the most to fight paper leaks.

The day @dpradhanbjp resigned, the entire country celebrated.

People celebrated as if the biggest villain of India's education system had finally fallen.

But let me ask you something.

Who was the first Education Minister to bring a law that could send paper leak mafias to jail for 10 years and impose a ₹1 crore fine?

Dharmendra Pradhan.

Back in 2010, Kapil Sibal had also attempted to bring stronger legal provisions against examination malpractices. But they never became the kind of stringent national law that could crack down on organized paper leak rackets.

It took 14 years before India finally got one.

Under Dharmendra Pradhan.

Who constituted a high-powered committee led by a former ISRO Chairman to completely overhaul India's examination system?

Dharmendra Pradhan.

Who accepted the committee's recommendations and promised to digitize the examination ecosystem to eliminate future leaks?

Dharmendra Pradhan.

Who cancelled the examination instead of pretending nothing had happened?

Who handed the investigation to the CBI?

Who conducted a nationwide re-examination involving lakhs of students and thousands of examination centres within weeks?

Who implemented the National Education Policy 2020?

Who expanded PM SHRI Schools?

Who pushed digital education through DIKSHA and SWAYAM?

Who focused on skill development, multidisciplinary education and preparing India for the future instead of the past?

The same man.

Yet when a system that had been broken for decades finally exposed itself, the blame fell entirely on the one person who was trying to reform it.

You can disagree with his politics.

You can criticize his decisions.

But don't erase his reforms.

Sometimes history doesn't crucify the people who create the problem.

It crucifies the people who expose how deep the problem really is.

Maybe Dharmendra Pradhan wasn't the villain everyone wanted. Maybe he was the reformer India failed to understand.

As everything slowly begins to sink-in, and after finally getting some sleep last night, I wanted to share a small personal note…✍️

The first call I made after Vikram-1 successfully reached orbit was to my Dad.

He is the man who made my journey possible—with dreams for me far bigger than the ones I had for myself, and by simply never giving up on me.

Until my 8th standard, I was a bad student. I scored 51 marks in Maths and even failed another subject. Back then, I could never have imagined that I would one day make it to an IIT—or have the privilege of contributing to India’s first privately developed rocket reaching orbit, making India only the third country in the world to achieve this.

When I called him after the launch, he just cried.

And cried.

He couldn’t speak a single word.

But I understood every word he couldn’t say.

I managed to hold back my tears when Vikram-1 reached orbit. But somehow, writing this, I can’t.

Thank you, Dad. ❤️

And a big shout-out to every dad who dreams big for their children—and never gives up on them. 🙏

Open letter to Indians in America.

Dear brothers and sisters from Bharat:

Like I did 37 years ago, you arrived in America with no money but with a good education and cultural heritage from Bharat. You achieved outstanding success. America was good to us. For that we must remain grateful - gratitude is our Bharatiya way.

Yet today, a significant number of Americans, may be not the majority but not too far from it either, believe that Indians "take away" American jobs and our success in America was unfairly earned.

You may think the next election will fix this, but your choice would be between people who hate our Bharatiya civilisation and people who hate civilisation itself. That is the "hard right" vs "woke left" battle. You are mere bystanders to that conflict.

Meanwhile there is one thing that is true now and will be true in the future: the respect Indians command world-wide will substantially depend on the fortunes of India herself. If India remains poor, the woke left will give us moral lectures with pity and the hard right, different moral lectures with scorn ("hellhole") and we must not confuse either with respect.

Respect in today's world, along with prosperity and security, comes from one source: a nation's technological prowess. India produces sufficient brain power to achieve that prowess but alas we exported so much of that talent, particularly to America. As we develop that prowess in India, our civilisational strength will assert itself.

As difficult as it is for many of you to contemplate this, please come back home. Bharat Mata needs your talent. Our vast youthful population needs the technology leadership you gained over the years to guide them towards prosperity. Let's do it with a missionary zeal.

100% FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in healthcare was allowed. No upper cap. No strategic oversight. No localisation mandates. *What was once a deeply human ecosystem-driven by values of service and sacrifice — became a marketplace on a global spreadsheet*.

And since then, foreign capital hasn’t walked-it has stormed in.

*The Great Hospital Handover*

Over the last few years, some of India's largest hospital chains have been fully or partially acquired by global private equity firms, sovereign funds, and foreign pension conglomerates:

*Manipal Hospitals* – backed by Temasek & TPG Capital

*Aster DM* – tied to Olympus Capital & other global funds

*Max Healthcare* – owned by Radiant Life Care, & *BMH* backed by KKR

*CARE Hospitals* – controlled by Evercare, a TPG–CDC vehicle

*Fortis Healthcare* – acquired by Malaysia’s IHH Healthcare

*Medica Synergie* – financed by pan-Asian investor networks

*Sahyadri Hospitals* – until recently, controlled by Canada’s Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP), now bought by Manipal in a ₹6,400 crore deal

These are no longer Indian hospitals.

They are foreign financial assets-spread across annual reports in New York, Singapore, Toronto, and Abu Dhabi.

*What was once a temple of healing is now a tool of strategic monetisation*.

Who Does the System Truly Serve?

What does this transformation mean for ordinary Indians?

• Treatment costs have soared — not due to better care, but to meet boardroom profit targets.

• Doctors are pressured to act as sales agents, with performance incentives tied to diagnostics and procedures.

• The poor, the rural, and the complex cases — unless “high-margin” — are quietly turned away.

• The ethics of medicine are overpowered by quarterly returns, investor expectations, and actuarial calculations.

• Monopolies are forming in critical care regions, where one conglomerate controls diagnostics, pharmacy, insurance, and hospital care — end-to-end.

And underneath all of this is a new gold rush — not for organs or land, but for data.

Every visit to a private hospital — every blood test, MRI, gene panel, ICU monitor reading, medication profile — is quietly captured, stored, and monetised. Hospitals now run on data economics. India’s regulatory vacuum — where patient data is neither sovereign nor protected — has turned its people into clinical lab rats for the Global North.

I know a teen who likes to order-in and eat Pizzas, Burgers, Chinese noodles, and Kathi rolls. They are also very fussy about their food and always have a complaint.

I noticed they always called and complained to their Dominos and McD, but they never complained to the Chinese takeaway or the hole-in-the-wall Kathi roll shop.

So I asked them casually if the Chinese and Indian food were always good?

They said, "No, they are the worst. Last time I even found hair in my food. But they do not even pick up the phone. They are so rude! Once they picked up the phone and hung-up on me after I complained."

And what went wrong with your Dominos delivery today? I asked.

"Nothing much uncle, they are good but the Cheese seemed less this time. So I told them that and the store manager called back just now, she has given me a voucher for the next delivery."

That's when I realized something.

What I now call the "CATCH-22" of providing good service - "Courteous Assistance Triggers Complaints and Harassment."

And this CATCH-22 is the situation our Modi govt is facing.

They build amazing highways, change the face of airways, revolutionize mobile & internet, transform payments, start a manufacturing boom, keep inflation lower than the decade before in-spite of wars and covid, end income taxes for 90% of Indians, assist even non-tax paying NRIs in need putting our officials and ministers at risk.

Yet, what do they get? Constant complaints, criticism, and harassment over everything.

Why? Because they are like the Dominos and McDs facing CATCH-22. Only when you care, provide good service, and take your customers or, in this case, citizens seriously, you will get too many complaints and criticism.

When you behave like the Chinese take-away or the hole-in-the-wall Indian, providing worst service, and not caring about any grievance, the public will just shut up and accept it as normal taking the crap you give.

This is how Indians were treated in the decades before and India was kept underdeveloped which people had no complaints about. Even if they had any, nobody cared.

Perhaps, that's what we still deserve.

Because, right now, what I see is just entitlement and arrogance even in complaints and criticism. Not an iota of gratitude for what the govt has done to help for a situation they put themselves into here:
