After thoughtful review and discussion, the Conferences Committee has voted to combine the poster and podium (in person or on-demand) application process into one streamlined abstract submission.

The ANNA Conferences Committee invites individuals, regardless of clinical or corporate affiliation, to share their expertise, research, and clinically based findings by submitting an abstract.

Abstracts are being accepted until June 8, 2026.

Balancing full-time work, nursing school, and family life takes an incredible amount of dedication, and ANNA member Sammy Arebalo is a perfect example of what perseverance looks like. While working as an LVN in the Acute Dialysis Unit at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Shoreline, Sammy continued pursuing his RN degree at Del Mar College, managing long shifts, clinicals, studying, and family responsibilities along the way.

As if graduating nursing school was not already a huge accomplishment, graduation week became even more meaningful when Sammy and his wife welcomed their child into the world on the very day of his pinning ceremony. What an unforgettable moment — celebrating both a professional milestone and the beginning of a new chapter for his growing family.
We were especially grateful that Sammy still made time to attend the Texas Coastal Bend Chapter #281 education dinner despite his demanding schedule.

Congratulations, Sammy, on this incredible achievement. Your resilience, commitment, and heart for both your family and your profession are truly inspiring. 👏

This month's member in the spotlight is David Ramirez! When asked about what he would tell a newly practicing nurse about nephrology, David said, “I would tell a new nurse that nephrology nursing is extremely rewarding. Few experiences compare to the appreciation patients express when you help them succeed—especially with home dialysis. It is also incredibly meaningful when patients who receive a kidney transplant return months or even years later to share their gratitude. Those moments stay with you and remind you why this work matters.”
