The Spurs were dominant all regular season, while Shaq and Kobe were back at each other’s throats for most of the season. Phil Jackson preached patience and never gave up on the group (except for Isaiah Rider). Fisher’s return from season long injury with a new consistent 3-ball towards the end of the year while Kobe was out sparked something, and the Lakers went on a run. Kobe returned and bought back in on the team goal. Rick Fox decided not to get a haircut again until they won it all and also committed to becoming a lock down defender. Fisher went on a 3-point heater in the playoffs, while Shaq and Kobe became arguably the most deadly one-two punch in league history and swept the western conference playoffs. If not for Iverson’s historic game 1 of the Finals, they would have swept the ENTIRE playoffs. 15-1 was still historic.
I was in San Diego playing lacrosse with the Czech National team back in 2023.
We went to a sports bar for dinner and they had this game replaying on NFL Network on a TV right next to our table.
I bet a kid from the Czech Republic $50 that the Vikings were gonna come back and win.
He gladly took it. Free winner. Watching him experience this in real time was unbelievable. He couldn’t believe it. Ended up telling him after the game was over that it was a replay and didn’t take his money.
Also had to remind him that it was July and the NFL wasn’t on. It was also a Wednesday. I love the Europeans.
Idk if y'all realize how fun NBA street was in its time.
Play through the story and beat "bosses" and then choose one of the players to join your team. Each with unique attributes and personality. That shit was AMAZING. Bring that back with a modern day feel and I'm sold
