All older New Yorkers deserve to age in safe, affordable housing! Our latest housing report, How Long Do We Have to Wait?: Why New York Needs to Prioritize Equity for Older New Yorkers in Housing Development, found that for many, this is not the case. https://t.co/GXjRRNIBgY
With the right investments, we can ensure that our seniors can age with dignity.
We are calling on the Administration to:
🍲Increase + baseline funding for older adult meals
🏠Expand older adult case management + home care services
💰Restore funds for older adult centers
Settlement houses SHOWED UP today to fight for aging services in this year’s budget! Thx to @NYCSpeakerAdams@CMCrystalHudson & CMs for standing with us to push back on @NYCMayor’s budget cuts. We need new investments to support an aging NY, not cuts!
@liveonny
Today staff and members from our Older Adult Centers rallied with fellow advocates. New Yorkers need fully funded senior programs with no wait lists! @HSC_NY@liveonny
Today PG joined 100s of people at City Hall for @liveonny's 27th Annual City Aging #Advocacy Day. Elected officials, nonprofits, & older adults gathered in hopes of galvanizing support for funds & services for older NYers who remain grossly underserved. #OlderAmericansMonth
Standing in community with advocates at @LiveOnNY’s Aging Advocacy Day!
From home-delivered meals to case management, older adult services are essential and must be adequately funded. #AdvocateforAgingNYC
No cuts to older adult services! Thank you to @NYCCouncil Aging Chair @CMCrystalHudson, @NYCSpeakerAdams for standing with us today against harmful proposed cuts to NYC aging services!
CPC is also here today near City Hall with @liveonny to make sure that the City restores cuts and expands investments in the health and well-being of older adults.
Citymeals is proud to join @liveonny and advocates, older adults & community organizations at City Hall today to oppose cuts to aging services. We need to invest in home-delivered meal programs, improvements to the City's older adult centers & expanded case management services.
Nearly 1 in 5 NYers is an older adult. Yet, @NYCAging makes up LESS THAN 0.5% of the city’s entire budget. Despite that, Mayor Adams is proposing drastic cuts that could shutter older adult centers citywide and hinder vital case management services. Older adults deserve better.
Let this sink into policymakers and electeds: it’s clear the ROI on $ spent on helping people stay in their homes as they age! Pay now or pay so much more if more people have to move to institutional care. @Citymeals @AARPNY #Hunger
Thank you @NYCSpeakerAdams for including older New Yorkers in your #SOTC! And yes!! We need equitable budgets that support us through our lives and into later life. We are all aging!
"Seniors are the jewels of our communities. To build a multi-generational society— one where all people can age with dignity—the City has a responsibility to support our seniors in the budget and throughout all of our policies." -@NYCSpeakerAdams#MovingForwardTogether
