Is this really what the Minns Government stands for?
Dragging Paramedics to the Industrial Relations Commission over action that has been taken many times before, and intimidating staff taking part in industrial action?
Paramedics across NSW have voted continue industrial action after the NSW Government sought orders from the Industrial Relations Commission to stop the action. We will not be silenced.
This is what the NSW Govt are bothering to spend their time with instead of actually fixing our healthcare system. File notes on staff engaging in industrial action.
Yesterday the Premiers lawyers took us to the Industrial Relations Commission over our no staff movements action. The Premier requested a rushed hearing in order to get orders from the Commission that our action must cease. They sought to silence us.
BREAKING: Paramedics are getting taken to the IRC this morning over their industrial action banning staff movements. Paramedics want to be there for their communities, want to be paid fairly, and want action on the emergency healthcare crisis. Is that too much to ask?
Overnight we've had reports of bed block across NSW. 3hrs+ Liverpool, almost 3hrs Wollongong, 4hrs Prince of Wales, 1hr+ St George, 4hrs Westmead, 2hrs+ Concord, 1hr+ RNS, 1hr+ Gosford, 2hrs+ Maitland, 1hr+ John Hunter, Lismore 2hrs+, almost 2hrs Dubbo, 1hr+ Campbelltown
Coffs Harbour Hospital has been bed blocked this arvo, with one car waiting almost 3 hrs, one for 2 hrs, and one for over 1.5 hrs. In a regional centre, having three cars off road is disastrous, putting people in that community and in surrounding smaller communities at risk.
Other honourable mentions from around the state include: St George (3:30+), Sutherland (4:45+), Westmead (3:20+), Wagga Wagga (3:20+), and Wollongong (2:00+).
Last night, there were multiple instances of bed block in Western Sydney. Out of 9 ambulances stuck at Nepean hospital, one crew waited for almost 6 hours, with three more waiting over 4.5 hours.
So far, none of the 12 recommendations from the NSW Legislative Council enquiry have been implemented. The Minns government must act and respond to this crisis. #WeDeserveBetter
Another shameful week of paramedics stuck in bed block. This is a photo one of our members sent us from Dubbo hospital on Saturday night. Patients are spending 3.5+ hours waiting for care.
We have to wonder, @RyanPark_Keira is this what regional NSW deserves? The people of Tottenham deserve better. Paramedics in Tottenham deserve better. All you need to do the right thing is allocate two more Paramedics to that town. Do the right thing, please.
We spent yesterday in the Industrial Relations Commission arguing against a small regional station being a single officer station. Right now, a Paramedic there has to work 8 days in a row alone, and then gets 6 days off, then has to come back and work another 8 days.
When you're a single officer, you can't transport patients. The single Paramedic will wait for hours on end for a back up car to come - with the closest station an hour away. When the back up does come, their own towns are left uncovered.
