So yeah, it's an honor to pay it forward.
In this cultural and political moment, where diversity, equity, and inclusion are being demonized and legislated away, they can't stop these moments of investment. Those are up to you.
Today is the beginning of the @RichardsCenter Catto LeCount program for Equity, aka my pride and joy! I can't wait to meet brilliant burgeoning scholars and pay forward all the investment scholars have made in me! Lemme gush to the academics for a thread:
Of course, at an institutional level, it is so much more. But, as someone who has been at PWIs my entire education and career, I know I'm not where I am because of the institutions I attended. I'm here because of a collection of professors who invest(ed) in and support(ed) me.
📢We have a new and exciting internship open for #PennState University Park undergraduate students! We invite applications for a *paid* position at The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress (@KlugeCtr) for summer 2024. 1/3
Please share the program with your department, and any undergraduate, recently graduated, or MA, Black students and students of color that you have or have had!
Hello fellow historians across the US! Do you have undergraduate or MA students from underrepresented groups who are considering in pursuing a graduate degree in history? Or students with promise, who SHOULD be considering gradschool? Please share our Catto Le Count program⬇️
Two of our programs, the Catto-LeCount Fellows Program for Equity and Inclusion and the Undergraduate Summer Internship Program, have application deadlines on Monday, January 15th! 1/3
I would have LOVED a program like this, even just to see that other Black historians existed!! And we know lack of transparency about the application process is a barrier to MANY students' willingness to apply.
It's set to be an excellent program: https://t.co/4XKXl515Oa
