When the actual crisis hit, humans handled it. The AI was nowhere.

This is exactly the point. AI is a research tool. A content tool. A visibility tool. It is not a crisis management system.

It is not a booking engine. It is not a replacement for a person who picks up the phone.

Hotel operators who’ve been sold on AI chatbots handling guest communication should pay attention.

The technology works great when nothing is wrong. The moment something goes sideways - weather, cancellations, a stranded guest - your guest doesn’t want a bot. They want human.

Build AI into your content and research stack. Keep empathic humans in the guest relationship. This is true hospitality.
