Dr. Joy Ogaji, CEO of the Association for Power Generation Companies (APGC), will be live on Arise News this morning, Wednesday 24th September 2025, at 9:30am.
As we begin a new week, let’s remember:
Goals without structured plans remain wishes, and plans without execution remain dreams.
APGC - Driving Nigeria's Power Generation Forward.
OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF POWER PLANTS – AUGUST 2025
In August 2025, Nigeria’s grid-connected plants recorded an installed capacity of 13,625 MW, out of which an average of 5,514 MW was available for dispatch. This translated to a PLANT AVAILABILITY FACTOR of 40%, which was 1% lower than in July.
The actual generation delivered averaged 4,106 MWh per hour during the month. This corresponded to an AVERAGE LOAD FACTOR of 74%, indicating that just under three-quarters of the available capacity was utilized. Both the output and load factor fell compared to July, by 5% and 4% respectively.
On GRID PERFORMANCE, the average lower grid voltage stood at 300.65 kV, while the average upper voltage reached 350.77 kV. These values exceeded the prescribed voltage limits of 313.50 – 346.50 kV. FREQUENCY STABILITY also showed notable deviations, with the lowest frequency recorded at 49.37 Hz and the highest at 50.78 Hz, both outside the expected range of 49.75 – 50.25 Hz.
Engr. Jennifer Adighije, MD/CEO of NDPHC, is reshaping Nigeria’s power sector, restoring 230MW to the grid, pushing ₦500 billion in transmission upgrades & driving renewables.
Time is the currency we can’t save, only spend. For you, it’s about growth. For GenCos, it’s about every hour of power generated to keep Nigeria moving with timely and optimal utilisation/payments, taken into cognisance the time value of money.

Vandalism of transmission infrastructure is a threat to national development.
Let us stop sabotaging our future. Report suspicious movements around TCN's installations to the nearest Police Station or call TCN on 07016839880.

Been resilience in the midst of imminent shutdown due to growing debts is not sustainable. Without urgent reforms and financial interventions, the burden on GenCos risks weakening the very foundation of the power sector.

🌟 Hello New Week! 🌟
At APGC, we believe every unit of electricity powers more than just light, it powers comfort, growth, and endless possibilities.
As you step into this new week, remember: every unit counts, use it wisely.
#PoweringPossibilities#ElectricityMatters#NEW
It’s time to bridge the gap between what we envision and what we experience. Only then will our energy ambitions illuminate every home, business, and community without interruption.
Every blackout tells the same story, our energy dreams are brighter than our reality.
It’s time to close the gap and power a future where the lights never go out.
