💚Mental health matters💚
And today, I’m incredibly honored to be part of @CircadiaDesign’s Mental Health Matters Symposium and Social alongside an amazing group of professionals and advocates who care deeply about people, connection, and wellbeing.
This evening, I’ll be sharing a presentation titled:
“Doing Meaningful Work Without Losing Yourself”
This conversation is deeply personal to me.
After surviving the shooting at Olathe East High School, I found myself navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, identity loss, burnout, and the long process of rediscovering what mattered most.
For a long time, I believed meaningful work meant constantly pushing forward, carrying more, giving more, and always showing up for everyone else.
But eventually I learned something important:
You cannot continue pouring into others if you never allow yourself space to breathe, process, heal, and reconnect with your own life.
Tonight’s presentation is not about having all the answers.
It’s about honest conversation.
About protecting mental health while still caring deeply about your work, your purpose, and the people around you.
It’s about recognizing that resilience is not pretending you’re okay.
It’s learning how to stay whole while moving through difficult seasons of life.
I’m grateful to Circadia for creating space for conversations like this and for bringing people together around mental health, connection, and hope.
There’s still time to register and attend tonight’s event.

I wasn’t expecting this tonight.
But it looks like Amazon decided to release the book a little early!
Tomorrow was supposed to be the official release day, but Amazon got a little ahead of schedule and released it early. Maybe Amazon knew how much it means to me to finally share this story with others.
One Step at a Time is OFFICIALLY LIVE.

Seeing the book out in the world is an incredibly humbling and meaningful moment. What started as journaling and reflection slowly turned into something much bigger than I ever imagined.
In fact, I never set out to write a book. I was simply trying to survive and work through the trauma and mental health challenges that had suddenly become part of my life.
Over time, those reflections, journaling, conversations in therapy, and quiet moments of processing slowly turned into the pages that now make up this book.
I’m deeply grateful for the encouragement, support, and kindness so many people have shown along the way. This moment belongs to far more than just me, and I feel incredibly thankful for everyone who helped carry this journey forward.
This book was never written simply to tell my story. My hope has always been that it might help someone else feel a little less alone when navigating life’s challenges, hardships, or life-changing moments.
Over the past few years, so many people have walked alongside my family and me through healing, growth, and rebuilding. Many of you encouraged me to keep writing when this book was still just an idea taking shape.
If you’ve been following this journey and have been waiting to read the book, the wait is over.

More than anything, my hope is that this book reminds someone out there that healing is possible and that even when life changes in an instant, we can keep moving forward. One step at a time.
✨ Keep taking the next step.
✨ Hope is always possible.
✨ Light will find its way in.

Big life change today for me. I’m officially taking over Rock Chalk Sports Talk on @1320KLWN at 3pm. Could be the worst few hours of radio in station history. We’ll see. Tune in and let me know. Also, what the heck should we talk about?
Dooley finds Becker in the end zone and lofts the ball perfectly above the SMNW linebackers. Becker, all alone, hops up to get the ball.

Free State entered the City Showdown with five wins and an offense that led the team to over 30 points per game.
On Friday, however, the Lawrence High run defense was the difference maker, as the Lions earned their first win of the year, 24-6.
