Excellent list of ways to improve the NHS from @ShaunLintern.
I’d emphasise 21c public health measures to prevent disease and mobilise all-Govt approach to health: clean air, mouldy homes, smoking cessation, obesity strategy etc.

Glad to be in the audience for this - we do poorly economically when faced with global shocks because our society's immune system is compromised - health (esp mental health) a critical component.
I support "Growth", but how can we grow the economy when people are leaving the workforce because they're ill?
Good to see @OBR_UK echoing my concerns in their reply to letter about accurate accounting for the full economic costs of rises in "inactivity". 1/5

Given the current uncertainty on whether it is or isn’t being scrapped, now is the time for @theresecoffey to firmly commit to publishing the long-awaited Health Disparities White Paper.

Important piece by @SarahNev. Legacy of Covid hitting healthcare systems SO hard.
We should use this crisis to pivot from late-stage acute medicine to early stage preventative interventions.
Policy-makers shd seize the opportunity.

Such an important report. The economic costs to the taxpayer of subsidising junk food are enormous. Our NHS is straining to cope with Britain's obesity issues, our workforce bottleneck is made worse by ill-health, and the cost to welfare stacks up every year. Time for a rethink.
Big new gov report:
Air #pollution can cause #dementia.
Not just exhausts. Small particles (brakes/tyre/road wear) get in via nose.
Tragic. UK cannot afford care for future 1million+
Let's do prevention:
Modal shift from car to #cycling/bus. Green spaces.

Fantastic new Health on the High Street example from Barnsley. CDC housed within a town centre location focused on retail, leisure, food and drink. 👇 Congrats @bobkirton @jambsnell et al. "Towns need to think differently about services in their centre & embed health & wellbeing"
