Kenyan footballers Brian Andaje and Sunday Adam Majimbo believed they were travelling to Indonesia to sign for professional clubs.

Despite being told they would have contracts on arrival, the players were never introduced to any clubs and, over time, communication with the intermediary became limited before eventually ceasing altogether.

The players were left stranded with no income, and at one point were sleeping on the streets before seeking help.

After months of uncertainty, Indonesian player union @APPI_info and Kenyan player union @KEFWAofficial, together with the Kenyan Embassy in Jakarta, stepped in to provide support and help bring both players safely back to Kenya.

Their story highlights the importance of seeking advice from player unions before pursuing football opportunities abroad, and the dangers of fake football agents.

Uruguay’s player union @Mutual_Uru has signed an agreement to receive 5% of the new Uruguayan football TV contract for image rights.

In financial terms, that percentage translates into $2.5 million per year until 2029.

The funds will be shared across the game, supporting annual player payments, a new retirement fund, and access to health and education programmes.

It also marks a shift in governance, with players now formally recognised as part of the business of Uruguayan football.
