Today, we received the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (@KAS_SouthAfrica) team, led by Dr Holger Dix, for the official handover of communications and broadcasting equipment to the @APRMorg.
This support strengthens the APRM’s communication, advocacy and outreach work in line with our Strategic Plan. Through initiatives such as Africa’s Governance Voices and our broader media and broadcasting work, we aim to bridge the gap between African citizens and leaders on key governance issues, while deepening understanding of the continent’s democratic progress and challenges.
This contribution will enhance our capacity to tell Africa’s governance story with greater reach, quality and impact.
On behalf of the APRM family, I extend my deepest gratitude to Dr Holger Dix and the entire @KAS_PolDiSSA team for their continued financial and technical support. This handover reflects the strength of our ongoing partnership, including this project, other initiatives we have collaborated on, and those we continue to advance together.
Today, I addressed the 11th Ordinary Session of the @APRMorg National Secretariats Coordinating Committee (NSCC), reaffirming that the APRM’s work can only achieve real impact when our National Secretariats are strong, functional and fully equipped to drive implementation at country level.
I briefed members of the NSCC on key programmes and initiatives being undertaken to strengthen APRM structures, including the Model Law on the establishment of National Structures, the Governance Support Programme, the APRM Structures Audit Framework, capacity-building initiatives, and the development of the Africa Governance Index.
As Uganda now chairs the APRM, we are also aligning efforts around its Two-Year Strategic Agenda, including renewed focus on the 13 bottlenecks hindering Africa’s socio-economic transformation.
Our collective priority remains clear: strengthening national structures to move the APRM from diagnosis to implementation, with impact and tangible results.
Today, Uganda has assumed leadership of the #APRM National Secretariats Coordinating Committee (NSCC). The Chairship runs astride that of the @KagutaMuseveni chairing the APR Forum of Heads of State & Government (2026 – 2028) @APRM_MarieRose@APRMorg@GNGwaku@Eloneainebyoona
In our quest to move from diagnosis to implementation, the @APRMorg is reviewing two key legal instruments: the Model Law on the Establishment of National Structures and the Legal Instrument on the APRM Governance Support Programme.
This exercise responds to gaps identified at national level, including the establishment of APRM structures and the partial implementation of National Programme of Action recommendations.
Through this process, the APRM seeks to strengthen Member States’ capacity, mobilise resources, and ensure governance assessments translate into concrete action and measurable impact.
Strengthening partnerships for democratic resilience. The APRM and CaraDem explored opportunities for cooperation aimed at supporting governance reforms, institutional strengthening, and sustainable development outcomes across Africa. #APRM#AfricanGovernance#Partnerships

On this #AfricaDay, we return to the words of those who started it all.
When the founding fathers gathered in Addis Ababa on May 25, 1963, they did not come with guarantees. They came with conviction. They carried the weight of a continent still emerging from colonialism and the belief that Africa's future had to be built by Africans together.
63 years on, their message remains as urgent and as powerful as ever Africa’s strength lies in its unity. #Agenda2063

Happy #AfricaDay
