37 years ago I was a victim of child sexual abuse, by a man who abducted me.
The police did nothing.
My mother said to never tell.
So I kept it secret.
I had to make sense of it on my own. So I blamed myself, just like my abuser wanted...
eg for most patients at a concession rate, they pay ~20 times MORE per month ($140/month) for their medication, than other chronic disease patients (~$7/month). There is no reason for this apart from lack of political will to rectify this.
Whilst we, at the coal face of patient stories and treatment, continue to advocate seeing Opioid Use Disorder as any other chronic disease/mental health condition, the PBS still contrives to add layers that are stigmatising and barriers to care.
