@jayquintana_jr@gosuprime022@Variety Theres tons of small roles like hers in the story because you get the tale of Odysseus from several sources, including Menelaus (Helen’s husband) so yea, she pops up. But she is FAR from a main character, definitely not important enough for the amount of discourse revolving her.
@gosuprime022@Variety Im so tired of this discourse. Who cares? Helen is barely in this story. If they were doing the Illiad, sure, MAYBE it would matter. But getting all up in arms about a glorified background character because it’s “not accurate” to a fictional character is a waste of time & energy
Jinx may not be my favorite character in Arcane but man does she have a fun character design! Also, I may have started this one waaaay back in May, and then got busy doing a bunch of other cool interesting things and never got around to finishing the illustration until now.
.
Wanna know what you get when you mix dark gothic romance + Penny Dreadful + Phantom of the Opera + Jack the Ripper? It’s this (*gestures vaguely at illustration*). More specifically you get These Crimson Delights by hm.wolfe which just got picked up by a publisher.
For the past few years I’ve tried to do a self portrait around my birthday. Since that particular milestone was way back in May it’s fair to say this is a smidge late, BUT I finally found time between commissions to finish this one up! So behold, ME… Enjoy!
Here’s a little contemplative piece of Nadim from The Fire Beneath Azura. What this guy seemingly lacks in a wardrobe he makes up for with honor and being an all around decent guy trying to save his people. Will he succeed? Will he ever put on pants? You’ll have to read the book
The more work I do for these indie authors the more I find myself going “well that sounds awesome!” And adding things to my tbr. Which supporting indie creators is great, but I already have a whole dust collection on my ever present TBR, should I really be adding to the pile?
You ever wake up in the middle the night in your cool moody gothic bedroom, and look up to see a hunky ghost silhouette looming over you in a spooky yet alluring manner? Well this is what that looks like! Based off a bit from Vesselless by Courtney Winn
In the wildly underrated 2012 film Dredd, Karl Urban never once removes his (very cool) helmet through the entire 95 minute runtime and I find that incredibly impressive. Mostly because actors are narcissists and that movies awesome.
You gotta love it when you get a commission and they lead with a Star Wars reference. Like, there’s alotta ways to describe a persons hero to villain arc but “Revenge of the Sith Anakin” sums up a whole vibe in such an “I know exactly what you’re referring to” sorta way.
One of the super cool projects I’ve been busy with over the past month is this epic printed case for Blake Gallowsspecial edition of Blood Red Hex (kickstarter running now). You should back it because, I mean, look at it! You know you want it.
When I finish watching Gladiator I don’t get many “this needs a sequel” vibes, but I will say Gladiator 2 does bring some fascinatingly anti-patriotic “Is Rome actually the worst?” Vibes that I rather enjoyed!
Also, I totally worked on this one while I was on vacation in Rome!
So I’ve been working on a number of exciting commissions these past few weeks, so I don’t have much digital illustration work to share (yet) BUT I did do this cool “let’s try a new art medium” thing and I’m surprisingly pleased with how it turned out.
Do you think 2004 Brad Pitt crushed the role of Achilles because he’s a great actor or do you think it’s just “beautiful specimen of a man who is better than everyone else and knows it” isn’t too much of a stretch for the guy?
I recently read The Song of Achilles by madeline miller and man does that alter the viewing experience of the Troy movie (which to my surprise totally holds up). I mean, the Briseis stuff doesn’t translate one to one but that Hector fight is SO much more impactful!
