There should be no restrictions on the citizens that the government also doesn't have. If the government can buy belt fed machine guns, we should be able to as well.

The bill of rights doesn't grant privileges. It recognizes pre-existing natural rights independently from government power. The bill of rights tells government what it specifically ISN'T allowed to do. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. That's a command.

Our founding fathers did not believe government granted rights, but God himself. The right to life implies the right to defend it, with violence if necessary. The best tools to defend your right to life from criminals, and even government itself is a gun. The founding fathers didn't ask nicely for freedom from a despotic king. They shot his soldiers to death until they won.

Violence is the supreme authority from which all other authority is derived. Giving up gun rights is akin to giving up your authority as a citizen and simply becoming a serf to a ruling despotic class of overlords. You have no ability to say NO to the government if you can't back it up with bullets. Every single right you have can be taken away with the stroke of a pen if you have no ability to be a deadly threat to the government.

America is having a huge debate about guns right now.

And that’s okay.
People are allowed to disagree.

But here’s what I’m curious about.

A lot of people say:
“Guns should be regulated.”
“Gun rights must be protected.”

Fair enough.

But what does that actually mean?

If you could set the minimum requirements for legally owning a gun in America, what would they be?

Age requirement?
Background check?
License?
Training?
Or should the system stay basically as it is?

Any answer is fine.

I’m just curious where Americans themselves would actually draw the line, beyond the slogans.

There is absolutely zero effective difference between a properly working 3 position FRT and an autosear. Hold down trigger, dump mag. FRTs are workarounds of the NFA and Hughes amendment in the same way braced pistols are really SBRs that are workarounds of the NFA.

Get an FRT today. Deny the boomers their pre 86 transferable machine gun stock money. One day, we'll defeat the NFA entirely, but until then buy as many FRTs as possible.

Getting legitimate machine guns was kind of a waste of money in the era of FRTs, they are 90% there while being fully legal in the legal definition of semi-auto

This has been observed in the market price of transferables for which FRT options exist

NAGR vs Garland established precident that ATF exceeded its authority by ruling FRTs machine guns. They cannot arbitrarily ban FRTs by decree. Only congress can do it by changing the definition of "machine gun" in the NFA, or passing a standalone bill that bans forced reset devices. In today's political climate in the US, that would be impossible.

It matters more depending on the amount of recoil. A full size 9mm has nearly no recoil, at least to me. A full auto AR15 just wants to push you backward.

The target I'm shooting with M&P 2.0 you cwn hear impacts on is at 50 yards. Recoil control with handguns has more to do with grip than stance. I could do the same thing laying on my side.
