After news of track two channels being activated, RSS Gen. Sec. Dattatreya Hosabale has called for opening talks with Pakistan. Surprisingly, Nagpur is now making more sense than New Delhi.

Indian leadership wasted a decade trying to paint Pakistan as a terrorist state to avoid dialogue, only to fail abysmally and realize what Pakistan always said: India cannot compel Pakistan by force on bilateral issues, and dialogue is the only way forward.

The recent thrashing in Marka-e-Haq was a reality check for India's overconfident politico-military leadership. Meanwhile, the lack of usual US warmth due to shifting dynamics of great power competition has laid bare India's true leverage.

Yesterday, the CDF delivered an important speech marking the post Bunyan Um Marsoos doctrinal and operational evolution in Pakistan's military thinking.

He made clear that Pakistan refuses to accept India's escalation under the nuclear overhang as the status quo. India's actions represent a "new abnormal," a dangerous distortion of South Asia's strategic stability, to which Pakistan has responded by evolving its doctrine and capabilities.

The CDF said without explicit reference to strategic weapons:

"The enemies of Pakistan need to understand that in the event of another aggression, Pakistan will not act with restraint and patience. Instead, Pakistan's response will be severe, uncompromising, high intensity, and it will strike the enemy in depth."

On the operational level, adjustments are underway. The CDF stressed multi domain operations, the future of war. Op Bunyan Um Marsoos proved the efficacy of tri services joint operations to nullify India's advantage in the western theatre.

Key adjustments since Op Bunyan Um Marsoos include:

First, enhancing jointness by creating a unified command under the CDF.

Second, substantial investment in conventional and emerging technologies, including new Hangor class submarines for the Navy and fifth generation J 35s for the Air Force.

Third, major investment in Pakistan's space program, a crucial leg of battlespace visibility. While Pakistan has steady support from China, nothing replaces owning your own assets.

Fourth, the creation of the Army Rocket Force Command as a separate entity and the speedy expansion of conventional missile inventory like Fatah III and IV. Next time, Pakistan will respond in depth, not just to northwest and southwest India, but to any aggression. This means all of India will become a theatre of retaliation.
