Yes I'm currently reading a book.
No it's not a book about making money or stopping procrastination.
Yes it's a fictional book about people that don't exist.
Yes I feel happy and fulfilled.
The most short-sighted assumption of the past 25 years has been that we can discard physical libraries because everything is digital and always will be. But the digital vanishes like smoke & knowledge is rapidly disappearing from the web. You have to invest in physical media.
“The problem in the U. S. isn’t with books being banned, but with people no longer reading … You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.” Ray Bradbury
If you never want to be an inconvenience, then you’ll never have any meaningful friendship, a meaningful marriage, or any meaningful relationship with anyone.
To love someone is to inconvenience them, it is to need them, it is to interrupt their plans, it is to ask for help, to need a ride at 2 in the morning to the airport, to need a store run because you must eat pickles right at this moment, all of it an annoying inconvenience.
And yet all of it also a wonderful inconvenience.
To be loved is to be inconvenienced, because a life where nobody bothers you, where nobody inconveniences you, is not a better happier one, it is just simply, and plainly, terribly lonely.
My husband can verify that I much prefer a bouquet of books over a bouquet of flowers. Flowers eventually wilt and die. A good book stays with you forever!
This is not Europe. This is Missouri.
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, built in 1914. It has over 41 million mosaic pieces. Some of the most wondrous churches ever built are in the United States.
How you view motherhood is how you will view children.
If motherhood is a burden, then so are children
If motherhood is the death of our dreams, then so are children
If motherhood is bad, then so are children
If motherhood can be removed, then so can be children
They are inherently linked. You cannot have one without the other
And once you understand that the way we now view motherhood, as something altogether negative, you soon see why it makes total sense that we look at children the way we do.
You cannot value children, their lives, their worth and importance to society without doing so with motherhood.
The value of children is a direct link to the value of motherhood.
