The Ndebeles of Zimbabwe are descendants of the Khumalo and Nxumalo Peoples of kwaZulu Natal.

The Ndebeles of Zimbabwe (Dzimba-dza-mabwe/dzimba-hwe) originate from present-day KZN... having being led to what's now called Zimbabwe, by a strong military leader, uMzilikazi kaMashobane.
The Khumalos in present-day KZN were caught between the tensions of the Ndwandwes (led by iNkosi uZwide) and the Zulus (led by iNkosi uShaka).
To create a good relationship with the Ndwandwes, the Khumalo chief, uMashobane, married Zwide's daughter, who then gave him a son, uMzilikazi.
The mighty Mthethwa nation started roaming around the Ndwandwe area, and uZwide felt that uMashobane had not warned him about this - feeling that he knew. He had uMashobane killed, and uMzilikazi became the leader of abakwaKhumalo.
Mzilikazi did not trust his maternal grandfather, uZwide, and went to join uShaka and the Zulus, along with his soldiers.
Mzilikazi would defeat his grandfather, uZwide, and uShaka would give him the honour of being the chief of oKhumalo, who could remain an independent kingdom, separate from the Zulu kingdom.
Later on, uShaka would ask uMzilikazi to attack the Sotho clan of Raninsi, in the north. Mzilikazi would achieve this, but refuse to hand over the prize cattle and land attained in the victory. This is where Mzilikazi would break away from the Khumalo clan and land, and defy uShaka.
Mzilikazi would continue to raid and defeat certain Sotho chiefdoms and those of the Southern Ndebeles, as he moved with his nation up north... during the Mfecane conflicts/wars.
Mzilikazi's regiments moved north-west to the present-day areas of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West, & Limpopo.
Mzilikazi attacked & subjugated local tribes he found along the way, including the Khoi, BaTswana, BaPedi, and the Ndebeles of MpumaLanga.
In these lands, between 1827 & 1832, Mzilikazi built 3 military strongholds. He would be king of what became the Transvaal and even defeated the Boers of the Voortrekkers in battle.
In the 2nd battle, the Boers would defeat Mzilikazi & drive him up north, where he would settle in present-day Matabeleland, after defeating the indigenous Rozvi people & KaLanga people of the area.
During the migration from KZN to Zimbabwe, numerous raided indigenous clans & individuals (such as the Southern Ndebele, Swazi, SothoโTswana, and Rozvi ethnic groups) were absorbed into the Ndebele tribe, adopting the Ndebele language and culture.

These are just 3 examples of the countless conflicts where womenโs suffering goes unnoticed and resources to support survivors fall short.
BREAKING NEWS: The Constituional Council of Mozambique has declared Frelimo's Daniel Chapo as the President.
The court has validated Chapo's electoral win which has been disputed by the opposition, resulting in protest action.
The Frelimo has held power since 1975 after the country gained independence from Portugal.

South Africa looked the other way when Robert Mugabe and @edmnangagwa rigged an election in 2008 and it created an immigration crisis in South Africa.
Now we are faced with an election crisis in Mozambique. Political leaders were assassinated during the election, Zanu PF sent people to vote from Zimbabwe. This was captured on video.
International observers raised multiple concerns about the election. The people on the ground raised complaints about the election. The internet was shut down and the police brutalized the public.
If @CyrilRamaphosa and @RonaldLamola lend South African support to the Frelimo candidate Daniel Chapo we will repeat the mistakes of 2002 and 2008 in Zimbabwe and enable denial of democracy in Mozambique and accelerate the immigration crisis in South Africa.
A fire that burns next door is a domestic issue. A flood next door will eventually flood your yard. We must raise our voice to support the brave youth who are refusing to have yet another election manipulated in Mozambique.
We have taken a stand in Ukraine. We have taken a stand on Morocco. We have taken a stand in the Middle East. Why are we failing to take a stand in our own neighborhood.
Why are we failing to match the rigour and moral fortitude when the lives affected are black children in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and eSwatini. We cannot roar overseas and mew in our own neighborhood.
South Africa must stand with the people of Mozambique today. We must not repeat the mistakes we made in Zimbabwe. We must not rubber stamp illegitimate elections.
It does not matter if Fikile Mbalula wants to be best friends with Zanu PF and Frelimo. The ANC must recognize that they cannot put historical friendships above current crisis affecting the people on the ground.
Letโs us keep Mozambique in our prayers tonight.
