Wardogs is asking $40 on Steam Early Access, and the developer says that price will keep going up as the game gets bigger.
Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer says the plan is to raise the price to $49.99 in about 12 months, when the game is expected to reach its “0.5” milestone, and then to $59.99 in roughly 24 months.
“We have scaling pricing,” Brammer is also very direct about players who don't like the pricing: “If you don't agree with that, please don't buy it.”
He argues that Wardogs is a large-scale FPS with high-end graphics and physics, which makes it expensive to develop and support. “This game costs a lot to make,” he said, adding that players who want a cheaper FPS can choose other options.
Bulkhead says the rising price is ultimately about keeping development sustainable and supporting the game over the long term.
