📸 - Jovo Lukić was not called up for Bosnia’s World Cup qualifiers.
He only received his first call-up since 2021 for the two friendlies before the World Cup.
Before today, he had just THREE appearances for the national team. This was only his fourth.
He plays in Romania, he is 27 years old, and he was never really seen as an important figure for Bosnia.
Today, against all odds, he started… and scored Bosnia’s first 2026 World Cup goal.❤️🇧🇦
This Chelsea fan flew all the way from Kenya to Budapest to HATE WATCH Arsenal in the UCL final 😭

Sergej Jakirović. Hats off.
An unbelievable achievement. A miracle, considering the condition Hull City were in when he took over. A club that only avoided relegation on goal difference last season and were under a transfer ban.
Never forget that the geniuses at NFSBiH once chose Petev over Jakirović.
24 goals & 5 assists combined in the Bundesliga for Ermedin Demirović and Haris Tabaković. Those are some serious numbers. A (much) lesser version of the Džeko & Ibišević era.
Also two players whose futures were still somewhat uncertain last year, so it’s great to see that things ultimately worked out well and that we’ll still benefit from both in the future.
Miron Muslić got Schalke promoted to the Bundesliga, Sergej Jakirović reached the PL promotion playoffs, and Vahid Halilhodžić beat Marseille 3–0.
All today.
You wouldn’t always think so, but Bosnia and Herzegovina clearly has some great coaches.
Big congrats to Miron. And of course to @AdinOsmanbasic, Džeko & Katić as well.
Just in case anybody claims Bosnia and Herzegovina fluked their way to the World Cup finals on penalties over Italy, here is the attacking momentum graph for the entire 120 minutes. Basically, Italy were outclassed for two hours
