Around 30 November 1942 | The Sonderkommando established by SS man Franz Hössler to erase the traces of mass murder by digging up and burning the corpses buried in mass graves at Birkenau completed its work.

According to Rudolf Höss, the number of people buried in these graves was 107,000. This included: the Jews from the transports from Upper Silesia murdered in gas chambers, and then from other transports until the burning of the corpses began.

Soon after that the prisoners forced to dig up the corpses were murdered and a new Sonderkommando was formed.
