This is a big part of the conflict within him and adds validity to the arc of him accepting he is the way he is. He had many “outs” and refused them every time due to ego, or he found it fun.

I feel Kim at that point in the show had got to her “breaking bad” point after getting a taste what it was like to dupe and be involved in Jimmy’s schemes. There was the context that it would settle the sandpiper case, but It was more just fun I think for Kim

He wrestled with his morality and went from 5 episodes being a chemistry school teacher who had done some bad shit, to a drug kingpin with no care for human life. There was far much more than 5 eps.
