Today we honour and remember the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel. Of the 800 Newfoundlanders who went into battle on July 1, 1916, only 68 were able to answer the roll call the next day. We Will Remember Them.

Every Christmas Eve, local school children come to Holten and Groesbeek Canadian Military Cemeteries in the Netherlands to light a candle in honour of every soldier laid to rest. This humbling display reminds us to be grateful for the peace we enjoy. Merry Christmas everyone.
