We are a resident led group🏴, calling for closure of #Mossmorran Petrochem plant & a Just Transition. Supporting global fight against polluters 🌍
If @Jeremy_Hunt announces spending cuts or raising taxes on workers today, remember that the UK is set to pay over a half a billion pounds to Norwegian oil giant @EquinorASA if it goes through with the Rosebank oil field.
@EquinorASA has made almost £50bn in profit this year.
NEW: The UK has kept the windfall tax loophole to subsidise new oil & gas fields AND actually made it even more costly to the taxpayer.
If you drill an oil field and use a wind turbine to power it, you'll get more tax breaks than just building a wind turbine #AutumnStatement
Tonight, After #TheOilMachine, an audience member who identified as oil company employee pointed out that there was a role to play for their industry in transitioning to renewables.
@TessaKhan’s reply: “It’s very rarely the incumbent industry that disrupts itself.”
Although climate breakdown is overwhelmingly caused by the Global North, the impacts are hitting the #South far harder.
In fact, by 2000 the damage rich countries’ #emissions caused to low-income countries (LICs) was already greater than LICs’ current foreign #debt.

Today, I delivered a petition to 10 Downing Street on behalf of 60000 people demanding the UK government #StopJackdaw. I'm incredibly grateful to be one voice in the ever-increasing wave of resistance against the UK government's climate-wrecking oil and gas proposals.
🆕 We’re at 10 Downing St. to deliver the letter that 60,0000 of you signed demanding the UK govt #StopJackdaw.
📜Our message: for a safer climate and for lower bills, the next Prime Minister MUST commit to no new oil & gas and #StopJackdaw.

...although transition may be tomorrow's struggle, not today's, it is also the people, not bosses, who should be listened to on how to build a green transition, just as today it is workers, not bosses, who should be heard on how to address the deepening cost of living crisis. 3/4
ECIA workers need a pay rise now and we all need an energy system that protects us from poverty and nourishes communities and the planet.

The people of Scotland are watching billionaires like Jim Ratcliffe who have spent decades profiting from pollution and piling it in tax havens. Something has to give!
Full case name: Doe, Aceh, Indonesia v. ExxonMobil Corporation, No. 01-1357 (D.D.C.) Information on the case from attorney representing the plaintiffs against Exxon, here: https://t.co/pCFWnDSR67
I am breaking a Twitter hiatus to share enormously significant news: In a ruling today, one of the most critical human rights cases alleging truly horrific abuses against an oil company-John Doe v ExxonMobil-in Aceh, Indonesia, is now headed to trial after 20 years of litigation.
📢We've just responded to the @scotgov consultation on #CoalExtraction in Scotland. You can choose a future, or you can choose coal. You cannot choose both.
The @WelshGovernment's policy is your starting point, but go further, close loopholes & rule out coal for steel.
Protect our green spaces! ✊🌿 On Sunday we marched from St Fitticks Park to Aberdeen Council to show how important this wildlife park is for the people of Torry. Visit: https://t.co/qAZoZXn3Sa @fittick
