Something to keep in mind about this Rodgers update today is that the team almost certainly told Rodgers they were going to do this if he hadn’t made an official decision by this date because yesterday was the last day to file this kind of tender because of the comp pick formula ending yesterday.

So if Rodgers is upset by this he has no one else to blame but himself, but the fact that he allowed it to get passed this date tells me he probably doesn’t mind it. I think he was only considering playing for the Steelers anyway & I don’t think the money was a big issue for him, either.

Another thing this confirms is that he Steelers do want Rodgers back this season, so if you’re hoping the Steelers tell Rodgers no thanks & decide to roll with the younger guys, I would say the only way Rodgers isn’t on the team this year is if he decides to retire at this point, which isn’t impossible but I still think is unlikely.
