Piece by me. I’m a big fan of bricks-and-mortar retail but we should be celebrating our world class online businesses too - they don’t always get the recognition they deserve because they get lumped in with the FANGs.
Quite a year, was 2006:
- Boohoo was founded and registered as "Wasabi Frog"
- Asos annual revenue reached a princely £19.7m
- Debenhams returned to the stock market with a £1.7bn valuation
- Philip Green was knighted for services to the retail industry
Asos 2,000 orders a minute during Black Friday as shoppers stock up on lockdown styles. It rapidly switches to fashion trend - eg new corset styles inspired by Netflix’s Bridgerton on its app now https://t.co/OxKZkJ1J1y
This is what a lifetime of service looks like. At 99 yrs old, @captaintommoore has raised more than £12m for our #NHS.
Fitting to see a Guard of Honour for #Yorkshire born Tom from the 1st Battalion @YORKS_REGT for his final steps.
Truly inspirational👏🏼
I have worked in #fashion for over 30 yrs. @ASOS doesn’t deserve this backlash. We are a #socialenterprise@ASOS_NickB provide work for our staff many are single women and 10% are differently abled. There’re serious offenders out there @asos is not one of them. #getyourfactsright
