Zack Coughlan has today received a life sentence for the murder of student Jamie Collins in Filton in April.

He will serve at least 28 years in prison.

The judge said Jamie (pictured) was a 'gentle soul' and recognised he was deeply loved.

Jamie's family have asked for privacy but said: "We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported us over the past six months.

“To see so many of Jamie’s friends in the public gallery at court was truly overwhelming.

"We will never forget people’s kindness.”

Zack Coughlan called 999 on 9 April to say he'd found the body of his friend, Jamie Collins, in their garden in Filton.

What he didn't disclose was 8hrs earlier he'd murdered Jamie while wearing a disguise.

Today he pleaded guilty to murder.

A man has appeared in court in connection with the 2025 collision in Stoke Gifford in which Leyton Coombs, 14, sadly died.

Paul Dacey, 56, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and will next appear at Bristol Crown Court in November.

A man on trial in connection with a shooting incident in Speedwell in April this year has been found guilty to possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

William Scammell, 25 of no fixed address, will be sentenced in January next year.

Suleman Aqeel, 23, of Speedwell, Bristol, was convicted and sentenced to 17 years at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday 30 September.
