Are we serving the next generation well if we tell them that everything is equal and fair when it is not?" - Alice Silverberg, Professor of Mathematics at University of California-Irvine
I read a quote recently that I'd like to share here. Although it was written with sexism in mind, I really like the sentiment behind the quote and it could be applied to any characteristic protected under the Equality Act:
I'm told that this was said even by the generations before that and now my generation is saying similar things to the next one. Of course, a decade or so later we always say 'How could we have thought that was equality?'.
It's #DisabilityPrideMonth ♿ more than ever we need the non-disabled people in our lives to listen and be our allies so we can remove barriers and every disabled person can access all areas of society equally!
Received pin badge today for volunteering for one year with A&S! Loved my time, learned lots and looking forward to the future with the Constabulary!
This lady's experiences echoes my own travelling by plane and I'm sure many other disabled peoples as well.
Two weeks notice and Gatwick still couldn't do right by this lady!

Today is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. Please share far and wide to help us reach more people and make them aware of a condition which is thought to impact around 1 in 20 people across the UK.
Great tip for parent carers: @clevedonlake, a tidal swimming lake in north Somerset, will be fully wheelchair accessible by summer — including a hoist and a disabled changing room!
Amazing work by @NorthSomersetC, @MarlensClevedon and local volunteers 👏 https://t.co/igPkvwnrgO
It can be overwhelming trying to keep up with everything you need to do to stay healthy - exercise, eat well, meditate, take medications etc
Try and focus on doing one thing or making one change at a time. Don't do everything, just do something! That's enough!

@AdrianzWall It's a very personal thing and, like you say, being disabled isn't black & white, good & bad - it's alot more complex than that.
The thing I find concerning is the lack of disabled voices in this debate.
This film raise some really interesting questions some of which I think about alot:
If I could be 'normal'/'cured' would I be?
Or
Does society need to do more to include me to make me feel less disabled?

I don't want disabled people to be medicated out of existence because it's easier for able bodied people.
As disabled people we are the ones that need to be consulted and considered and currently it feels like these decisions are made for us.
