Fifty-four years ago today, President Richard Nixon signed the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) into law.
Six months later, on June 22, 1972, ASRC was incorporated as a private, for-profit business that provides economic benefits to our Iñupiaq shareholders.
Native American Heritage Day is a time to recognize and uplift Indigenous people across the nation. Today, and every day, we honor all Indigenous communities, including the North Slope Iñupiat, whose resilience, knowledge, and traditions continue to guide us.

Tonight, the sun will set for the last time this year in Utqiaġvik, home to ASRC’s corporate headquarters and the northernmost community in the United States. Residents will not see the sun again until January 22, 2026.
