A new poster w/ the #CoverArt of my 26 #books: 7 authored, 2 coauthored, 6 edited & 11 coedited. Funny thing is I feel I’m only starting to get the hang of #writing now. Number 27 — the sequel to the #Ambedkar#biography — will be coming out soon from @HarperCollinsIN.

The writings of Ananta K Giri have always taught me something, though he is a wonderfully odd character. Here’s some new work from him.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Marjane Satrapi.
Author of the internationally acclaimed Persepolis, translated into Hindi by Vani Prakashan and into Kannada by Chanda Pustaka, she leaves behind a body of work that has profoundly shaped our understanding of contemporary Iran, women's lives, and the power of graphic storytelling. Through her singular voice and unmistakable visual language, she opened a window onto history, memory, exile, and resistance for readers across the world.
We will always remember her generosity in joining us for the launch of the Hindi translation of Persepolis on 11 June 2021, at a time when the world was confined to its homes. She gave us her time, her warmth, and the opportunity to revisit a story that had touched so many lives.
I’ve been working on and off on a novel on early Buddhism, set in Gandhara. For the last month, I’m writing much more consistently, daily. This has led me to talking occasionally with one of my characters, aloud. I thought I might be going mad, but apparently this is “normal”:
“As a rationalist thinker, Ambedkar took a critical look at the conventional social structure of the Hindus in order to facilitate the development of a society that was simple and equal. Ambedkar's worldview centred on achieving …”

Absolutely crazy find! Dozens of Foucault lectures freely available on the website of the College de France! All I think from after 1968, his transformative period living in Tunis.
I’m starting the #Foucault chapter of my #Tunis book today, #writing in the cafe where he worked.
It was just the Pahalgam anniversary. One year since April 22, 2025, when 26 innocent people were killed in a valley that has seen too much blood. Dan Qayyum's recent essay in The Pakistan Playbook, marking that grim milestone, is quite engaging—but also cynical.

“The Aggañña Sutta, one of the highly significant discourses of the Pāli Buddhist tradition, provides a robust criticism of caste and class hierarchies and further envisions a society based on ethical values and equality.”

“यह शोध-पत्र लखनऊ के दलित समुदाय में नव बौद्ध आन्दोलन, अम्बेडकरवादी चेतना और आर्थिक स्वावलंबन के परस्पर संबंधों का समाजशास्त्रीय विश्लेषण प्रस्तुत करता है। अध्ययन का केंद्रीय तर्क यह है कि नव बौद्ध आन्दोलन केवल धार्मिक परिवर्तन का प्रश्न नहीं है…”

@befikramusafir I disagree w the first part of what you said. It’s the nature of virtue to show restraint. But I understand the 2nd part & also appreciate how kindly u conveyed it.
U know, when I podiumed for the 1st time, humility overwhelmed pride. But I was more like 8000th than 800th, so :(
Kind of cocky for what, maybe top 800 in the world? Sprinters are cocky though, maybe it’s what helps them reach these extremes. But still, maybe don’t throw shoes til top 50 I’d say?

Aakashji, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's Journalism also paves the way to awaken downtrodden people.
Don't forget 👇
1. मूकनायक (Leader of the voiceless)
2. बहिष्कृत भारत (Ostracized India)
3. समता (Equality)
4. जनता (The People)
5. प्रबुद्ध भारत (Enlightened India)
Monthly reminder: Read Ambedkar. Don’t rely solely on podcasts, viral clips, fake quotes, or thirdnhand interpretations. Read Ambedkar’s original writings yourself. They are freely available online. The depth of his reasoning, clarity of thought, foresight on Indian society, democracy, caste, economy, and constitutional morality remain astonishing even today.
This paper, “Economic Dimensions of Buddhism in Early India: From the 6th Century BCE to 7th Century CE” offers a critical examination of the relationship between #Buddhism & economic structures in early India.
This was also the topic of Ambedkar’s MA.
