Total force readiness relies directly on how we support and retain our highly skilled civilian workforce. The Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness, Anthony J. Tata, recently engaged with our organizational partners to review advancements in building a modernized pay and performance system specifically for our wage-grade shipbuilders.
This initiative directly aligns personnel policy with strategic defense priorities, ensuring our compensation structures reward excellence and remain competitive. By optimizing workforce incentives, the department continues to invest in the critical talent required to sustain and grow our national shipbuilding capabilities.

Spent a fantastic Friday morning with the Project Triton team. This group is working hard to build a better pay & performance system for our wage-grade shipbuilders in line with @POTUS & @SecWar priorities. Hats off to the talented graphic recorder who diagrammed my remarks in real time!
Readiness starts with people and it shows from the first formation of the day. Through discipline and teamwork, our Sailors and Marines continue to build the strength and resilience that power the force. Investing in them is what keeps us ready. @SecWar#ManpowerAndReserveAffairs #FollowUs #TotalForce

In case you missed the rollout earlier this year, the commissary home delivery program is active and expanding at dozens of bases across the country.
If you live on base, you can easily shop online for fresh produce, meats and everyday staples and have them delivered straight to your home in just a few hours. Plus, as a bonus to keep your grocery bill down, the commissary is no longer charging you for single-use plastic or paper bags.
It is an incredible way to save time and make full use of your benefits without the extra trip. Skip the crowded aisles this week and take advantage of this convenience right from your living room.

Loving what you do makes all the difference. In this video, Joel Helston shares why he loves working for Department of War Education Activity (DOWEA), especially because he gets to collaborate with teachers who come from all over the world. Learning from their different backgrounds has helped him grow his own teaching strategies for his students and you can see that joy on the children's faces. It takes strong collaboration and teamwork, from our excellent educators in the classroom to the essential behind-the-scenes support, to create a school where military children truly thrive. We are always looking for the next generation of people who want to take education to the next level. If you want to join a group that cares this deeply about the future, you belong here.

True readiness starts at home and supporting military spouses as they grow professionally is a huge part of that. Today, Stephen B. Simmons, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP), joined our partners to discuss fresh, collaborative ways to tackle spouse unemployment and smooth out the unique career transitions our families face. We are looking at ways to make career paths adapt right along with the military lifestyle, making it a lot smoother to stay with the Department of War. When our families are supported and thriving, the entire foundation is stronger.
