There is a world of difference between targeted assassination and run of the mill banditry. It is however easy for the one to mask itself as the other. An in depth analysis of killings in the North West and other parts of the country is required to uncover this pattern. When you juxtapose this uncomfortable truth and what used to happen in the North East, where targeted killings were erroneously attributed to BH, this tendency becomes worryingly obvious. The masking of one criminal act to mimic an obvious one, is something that is well documented in Nigeria.
