This is my review of @AS_King's Pick the Lock: The blurbs on the back cover are both spot-on and insufficient to fully capture what makes Pick the Lock such an incredible accomplishment. This is the work of a master of her subject employing her mastery of her craft as a writer. Then again, I don't know what it's like to read this book without being a parent who has experienced the range of subversive to overt abusive behaviors described in this novel and, at least for the most part, gotten away from them. I imagine, though, it would be just as riveting for them as it was for me. This is middle grade fiction for anyone of any age. I can't wait for my teenage daughter to read it.
