Some of out team were out and about this week and called in and see the Walton Cross.
A large gritstone base. It is thought to be from the 11thC. All four sides are decorated and on one panel is a roundel with an interlaced design upon which our logo was based!
A little something for #FindsFriday. A small set of Roman tweezers and nail cleaners, found whilst processing a soil sample. They're made from copper alloy and are incredibly well preserved. #romanarchaeology#archaeology#tweezers

Preparing archives, ready for deposition with a museum, always allows a little sneak peek back into what we have found. Some have great little objects like this little bronze buckle. It is around 2.2cm in size with a forked spacer and a shaped pin #archaeology#FindsFriday
Here's a sneak peek of some of the #AnneLister merchandise we're preparing for #AnneListerBirthdayWeek and upcoming #InHerWords exhibition! Items will go on sale on Saturday 2nd April and will be available at our Calderdale & Wakefield offices.
These are some of the finds from our Swinnow Park excavation at Wetherby. The first picture shows a piece of Roman mortaria, the second picture shows a collection of some of the post-medieval pottery from around the hall.
Thank you to everyone who came to visit our open day at Swinnow Park, Wetherby. We'll be putting up a few posts over the next week showing a few of the things we've found for those that couldn't attend. And thank you to Poppy, Ben and Mat for helping show everyone around.
We've had a great year at ASWYAS. We'd like to thank our clients for their continued support, but most of all a BIG thank you to all our staff for their amazing work over the past year. Have a well earned holiday ๐. #Christmas2021#seeyounextyear#staysafe
Our team have uncovered the structural remains of the post-medieval hall that formerly occupied our site in Wetherby. We also hosted the Wetherby Civic Society for a short tour of the excavation on Thursday. We look forward to having them back in the new year!

For #FindsFriday we have some lovely Roman pottery. During the cleaning of the pottery the post-excavation team found that some of the sherds fit back together.
