We're going to continue to see this position evolve to more athletic without SIZE being a BIG factor.
Fifita at Arizona.
Castellanos at Boston College.
Both 5'10 or shorter playing well.
That would have never been allowed 5 years ago. We're watching QB's evolve into point guards...
Mental + Physical Freedom = Flow
TCU's running back, Trey Sanders, emerges as a symbol of resilience and unwavering determination today.
Three rushing touchdowns – a career-high achievement, but it’s not just any ordinary career game.
Sanders' path to this triumphant moment has been a tale of enduring adversity. It all started before his freshman season at Alabama in 2019, when a devastating broken foot sidelined him for the entire year, forcing him to take a medical redshirt. The following year, in 2020, he ran for 134-yards on 30 carries before a tragic incident occurred during the team's bye week, which altered the course of his life.
The catastrophic car accident left him with internal injuries and a fractured pelvis, relegating him to a wheelchair and, once more, removing him from the beloved sport that has defined his existence.
In the wake of the collision, Sanders experienced fleeting moments of consciousness, glimpsing the open sky from a helicopter before descending into darkness once more. Subsequently, he regained consciousness in a hospital room, surrounded by the unwavering support of his mother and father, each clutching one of his hands. It was then that a doctor shared the somber news – his lung had collapsed during the harrowing helicopter journey. Still groggy from the accident, Sanders asked about the extent of his injuries, and the doctor disclosed the presence of internal bleeding, rendering sedation an impossibility.
November 2020 marked a pivotal juncture in his career, a traumatic event that nearly cost him not only his cherished career but also his very life.
This offseason, after making the decision to leave the Crimson Tide and transfer to TCU, Sanders candidly shared how he never truly felt the same since the car wreck during his time at Alabama. However, he expressed to the media that he now reclaims the essence of the Trey Sanders of old. The same #1 ranked 5-star running back who emerged from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida in 2019.
