It is not essential. The interoperability challenge is a tech/development challenge. For the future of web3 it is important to improve the user experience. This is done at the front-end. Seamless interaction between blockchains might seem like a necessity but are not for the users.
Let's do some real talk and discuss how we can onboard more users to web3 in general. And no it's not only education but transparency and simplicity. The easier we can build the front-ends, where people don't have to do 10 steps to use the products rather have the same simplicity like web2 apps such as Uber, Amazon and co.
It seems to be funny to me that people think interoperability is so important, when we don't have the easiest onboarding mechanisms in place yet. Yes, we need interoperability but it is not essential, it's a challenge to be solved in the tech departments.
Hope this helps. I'd be happy to hop into a twitter space and also discuss this @BNBCHAIN@cryptokevin2011
