@ASobocki Many will avoid justice in this world, but not in the next. And many seek real interior peace yet cannot find it here - but it will be given plentifully to them in the life to come.
I pray for Francesca and all those in the same position. One day, they will rejoice.
On the feast of the most holy body and blood of Christ when children are receiving their first holy communion, we pray especially for Francesca and others who carry injuries like hers. I met Francesca at the LOUDfence at St Marie's Cathedral in Sheffield. She told me her abuse began within hours of her first holy communion and anything connected to this event causes her considerable distress. Please keep them all in your prayers. @BirgitteUna@BITLorgje@HallamDioceseCC
"The Catholic faith is deeply rooted in our country, and without it -- as you well know -- our history and culture would be incomprehensible," thus demonstrating the huge importance of culture.
Catholic King Felipe VI of Spain, welcoming the pope on behalf of The Queen and their daughters: Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, the Government and "the entire Spanish people," said that "For all Spanish speakers, it is a privilege that you understand and regularly use the language we share, thanks to your years of missionary life and pastoral work in Peru, alongside the Order of Saint Augustine. And we feel fortunate that everything that Latin America represents is also very close to your hearts."
"You are arriving in a country where part of your roots lie," the king said. "You are welcomed by a people you know well: vibrant and spirited, supportive and tolerant; also creative and cosmopolitan."
"The Catholic faith is deeply rooted in our country, and without it -- as you well know -- our history and culture would be incomprehensible," the king said, invoking Spain's giants of faith St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila.
"In these times, we run the risk of forgetting what truly matters, of slipping into the mistaken belief that -- with many of our points of reference swept away by the tide of current events -- anything goes, everything is permissible, negotiable, and justifiable. And that is not the case," the king said.
"Human dignity, human rights, democratic values, and international law must remain our prime numbers... Because in them -- in their myriad combinations -- lies the arithmetic of freedom, equality, and justice; the kind that adds and multiplies, not the kind that subtracts and divides."
Charity admits no delay. Our responsibility before those in need makes every encounter with others a unique and unrepeatable moment of grace for love, not to be missed or postponed. The love of Christ impels us toward our brothers and sisters, and the charity and care with which we respond are the test of our faith. #ApostolicJourney #Spain
The church is called to be so much more than a place where abuse is not permitted. The church is called to be a sanctuary which offers care and compassion for everyone who has suffered abuse elsewhere. We are to be a beacon of hope.
#ToutEstPolitique#canal16
This kind of insidious misinformation is really harmful to those affected by abuse in mother and baby homes in Ireland. It's also really damaging to the church. Confronting the truth is the first step in repair, reconciliation and healing. This account actively works against this.
🚨 IRELAND
The latest dig at the Tuam Mother and Baby Home has found 6 bodies in which 'all of the latest remains were found in coffins'
Almost a year into the excavation there are NO signs that a single child died of foul play or was buried in a septic tank
Kristan Hawkins would benefit considerably from listening to survivors of familial childhood abuse. Many of them were born to parents who didn't want them or weren't capable of looking after them. The suffering this causes is incomprehensible. Maybe we should not just assume you're called to marriage and parenthood just because you don't want to be a priest or a religious sister.
Yeah, this won’t help.
The baseline problem is selfishness. Adults don’t want to be “bothered” with raising a human child.
Selfishness will destroy western civilization.
Christendom has used Scripture to sanction slavery, racism, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and other cruelties our God hates. Some corners of Christendom today have become less interested in truth and more interested in power.
What if the challenge isn’t that Catholics are rejecting Confession—but that many simply don’t know how to begin returning?
A new national study found that nearly 70% of Catholics have not gone to Confession in the past year, yet many still expressed a desire for healing, mercy and renewed relationship with God.
How do we help make the sacrament more approachable for those who have drifted away?

The male sex is nobler than the female sex. That is why Christ assumed human nature as a man. At the same time, so that the female sex would not be despised, it was fitting that He should take His flesh from a woman.
The pro-FGM First Lady of Sierra Leone is coming to the UK this week. She should be held accountable for supporting a practice that kills women and girls. FGM is abuse, not culture, and we cannot stay silent while it continues. https://t.co/cJgJD23ScD
Could I ask you all to pray for a man I will refer to as "J" who died at 3.25am. "J" was a victim of horrific sexual abuse and violence by the Christian Brothers in Sunderland. One of the last things he did with his family was sponsor Finlay who ran in the Manchester Half Marathon last Sunday. They said what Finlay did made them feel seen. What we do and how we treat people matters. Care matters. Speaking out when we suspect something is not as it should be matters. "J" was your brother in Christ. Please pray for him and his family. @BirgitteUna@MrWillRoss@BITLorgje
