Our discussions reaffirmed our shared commitment to further enhance political dialogue, expand bilateral cooperation across key sectors, and continue working closely together in advancing our common European agenda.

I congratulated #Cyprus on the excellent work accomplished during its Presidency of the Council of the European Union. At a time of heightened global uncertainty and growing security challenges, Cyprus has successfully advanced an ambitious agenda focused on building a more resilient, strategically autonomous, and forward-looking European Union.

In this respect, I expressed our gratitude for Cyprus’s leadership, commitment, and steadfast support for the #enlargement process, and for Albania’s EU accession path in particular. The successful completion of the #IBAR during the Cyprus Presidency represents a landmark achievement in Albania’s accession journey and will be remembered as a decisive milestone that paved the way for the next phase of negotiations towards EU membership.

We also exchanged views on regional and international developments and discussed developments in the #Mediterranean and the #MiddleEast, underlining the importance of safeguarding peace, stability, and security in these strategically important regions. We reaffirmed our shared belief that dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation remain the most effective tools for addressing challenges and preventing tensions.

As Albania pursues its European ambition, we look forward to further deepening our friendly relations and partnership with Cyprus, built on mutual respect, guided by our common values and our shared commitment to a stronger and more united #Europe.

I expressed our sincere gratitude for Cyprus’s steadfast support for Albania’s EU accession process, particularly in relation to the successful completion of the #IBAR, a landmark achievement and a decisive milestone on Albania’s EU path.

EU membership, through a fair, credible, and merit-based negotiation process, is our foremost strategic objective and the strongest catalyst for democratic consolidation, institutional transformation, economic modernization, and sustainable development.

We reaffirmed the excellent state of relations between our two countries and our shared ambition to further strengthen this partnership and expand cooperation across a broad range of areas.

While our political dialogue is already strong and constructive, we agreed to explore practical avenues for enhancing economic and business ties, including trade, investment, tourism, education, and other sectors of mutual interest that can bring tangible benefits to our peoples and economies.

We also exchanged views on key regional and international developments, with particular attention to the #Mediterranean, the #MiddleEast, the #WesternBalkans, and the broader European agenda, reaffirming our shared commitment to peace, stability, effective #multilateralism, and international cooperation.

Albania is proud to join today the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), alongside Finland and Sweden.

Today’s flag-raising ceremony marks not only Albania’s formal accession to this prestigious NATO Centre of Excellence, but also a significant step forward in strengthening our contribution to Allied security, resilience, and collective defence in cyberspace.

This milestone reflects Albania’s growing role within the Alliance and our firm commitment to addressing evolving cyber threats in an increasingly complex security environment. Cyber defence is now an indispensable component of NATO’s deterrence and defence posture.

Through membership in the CCDCOE, Albania will deepen cooperation with Allies and partners, expand access to advanced expertise, training, and exercises, and further strengthen our national cyber capabilities, including the protection of critical institutions and infrastructure.

As Albania prepares to host the next NATO Summit in Tirana, we remain fully committed to reinforcing Allied unity, investing in modern capabilities, and contributing actively to NATO’s adaptation to emerging challenges across all domains, including cyberspace. 🇦🇱🇫🇮🇸🇪 #NATO

📍Bratislava: Very pleased to have a first meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of #Italy, Antonio Tajani @Antonio_Tajani 🇦🇱🇮🇹

We reaffirmed the excellent relations between #Albania and #Italy, rooted in a special friendship between our peoples, deep historical ties and an ever-growing strategic partnership. We highlighted the outstanding level of bilateral cooperation across a wide range of areas, including high-level political dialogue, defense, energy, security, connectivity, economy, trade, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

We also underlined our strong like-mindedness on key European, regional and international issues, as well as our shared commitment to peace, security, regional stability and the European future of the #WesternBalkans.

Italy remains not only a close friend, a close partner and a strategic ally, but also one of Albania’s strongest supporters on our European accession path.

I expressed Albania’s sincere gratitude for Italy’s continuous, unwavering and tangible support for our EU integration process, and particularly commended Italy’s steadfast role as one of the strongest advocates of Albania’s European perspective, both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU.

Together, we will continue to strengthen cooperation across all areas of shared interest for the benefit of our countries, our citizens and a stronger #Europe.

Europe Day is a testimony of what peace, unity, solidarity and cooperation mean. It is also a reminder that these are not a given, they have been hard won and should never be taken for granted.

For #Albania, Europe is not simply a destination. It is a choice of values, democracy, freedom, dignity, rule of law, and shared responsibility for a better future.

During my stay in #Antalya, I had the pleasure of meeting with Hans Christian Friedrich Schmidt, High Representative for #Bosnia-and-Herzegovina.

#Albania’s position on #BiH remains clear and steadfast: we strongly support its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and multiethnic character. In this respect, the role of the Office of the High Representative remains essential for maintaining stability and ensuring the full implementation of the #Dayton Peace Agreement.

We share the view that peace, security and stability in BIH are of utmost importance, not only for the country itself and its future, but also for the stability, security, and prosperity of the wider #WesternBalkans and #Europe as a whole.

Very good exchange with the Deputy Managing #Director for Western Europe at the European External Action Service, Emanuele Giaufret @EGiaufretEU.

I reaffirmed #Albania’s strong commitment to EU accession and our determination to maintain steady and tangible progress in the negotiation process. Full alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy remains a key priority. The second EU–Albania #Dialogue on Security and Defence, held on 16 April 2026, in Brussels, further confirmed the very close cooperation between Albania and the European Union, as well as our shared commitment to addressing common challenges, strengthening resilience, and contributing actively to regional and international security.

I also expressed appreciation for the leadership of HRVP Kallas and the EU’s continued engagement in the #WesternBalkans, including its role in facilitating the dialogue between #Kosovo and #Serbia.

#Enlargement remains a shared strategic priority, essential for the stability, security, and prosperity of the region.

It was a good opportunity to meet the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of the #Kyrgyz Republic, Ayaz Baetov, on the margins of the #ADF2026. 🇦🇱🇰🇬

Such forums also provide valuable occasions to engage with partners with whom we do not often have the chance to meet, helping to open new channels of communication and cooperation.

We expressed our readiness to further develop bilateral cooperation through a more structured political dialogue and by expanding the legal framework in areas of common interest, including the economy and tourism, where #untapped potential exists.

We also highlighted our constructive cooperation within international #organizations in advancing dialogue on issues of shared regional and global interest.

I participated today in the virtual meeting convened by #UK Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, bringing together counterparts from over 40 countries to address the urgent need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of #Hormuz following its effective closure by Iran in the context of the ongoing conflict.

The discussions focused on coordinated international efforts, through diplomatic and political means but not only, to ensure the safe and sustainable reopening of this critical maritime route, which is vital for global energy security and economic stability.

Unity, coordination, and a rules-based international approach are essential. #Freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle that must be upheld.

#Albania stands ready to working closely with partners and allies to support de-escalation efforts and contribute to collective intitiatives and solutions.
