51 today! Grateful to God for life, health, and grace. Stronger in purpose, wiser from battles, and ready for the brighter, greater days ahead. May God grant Nigeria lasting security, true unity, and a future of peace and prosperity
You’re not wrong to focus on HDI, but HDI doesn’t happen without money. Health, education, and standard of living all require massive investment, and that begins with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Even Lagos didn’t look impressive at the start. But as IGR grew and was channeled consistently, the results began to show. Today, it stands as a benchmark for subnational development.
Globally, it’s the same pattern. Countries like Norway (0.970), Germany (0.959), and Australia (0.958) didn’t get there by shouting hunger and hardship, they built strong revenue systems, taxed wisely, empowered businesses, and invested heavily in public services. That’s how HDI grows.
So yes, HDI is the destination but IGR is the road. If that sounds like nonsense to you, then perhaps economics isn’t your strongest suit. And that’s okay, not everyone sat through the full class.

@ed_onoja This is the kind of visionary leadership we need! Thank you for championing youth inclusion and advocating for true local government autonomy. Your voice and experience continue to inspire the next generation.👏🏽🇳🇬
The louder the noise, the closer we are to something major. Let ADC cook their decoy narrative. What matters now is making sure Mr President’s vision reaches the street level because that’s where elections are won. Not in tweets.
The Colony’s Decoy – Time to Step Up
In nature, we see it often. The termites and bees send out their workers and soldiers first. They make the noise, take the hits, create confusion. But the real power, the king or queen, stays protected in the shadows.
What if that’s exactly what the ADC coalition is doing now? Sending out a first wave of loud names and bold moves to distract and provoke, while the true contender watches quietly, waiting for the right moment.
Choosing a former military strategist as their National Chairman wasn’t random. It suggests careful planning and long-term thinking. It hints that the real player isn’t in the spotlight yet.
Let’s be honest. None of the so-called frontrunners will easily give up on their ambition. Someone else, behind the scenes, may be preparing for a big entrance.
So if you are one of Mr President’s boots on ground, I charge us all to not burn energy on endless social media battles. Let’s focus on what truly matters: THE PEOPLE.
That’s our strength. That’s our edge. I’m not claiming to know it all. But I’ve been around long enough in this political space to know when things aren’t what they seem. And right now, I believe it’s time to shift our attention from the drama to the real work ahead.
Let others get caught up in the noise. We’ll be busy where it truly matters. With the people, building trust, earning support, and securing victory.
@ed_onoja Powerful and piercing! This isn’t just analysis, it’s a wake-up call. While others are distracted by noise, this reminds us where true power lies: with the people. Strategic thinking at its finest

@ed_onoja@aonanuga1956@NigEducation This is truly inspiring.
Great to see real progress and hope for the future of education in Nigeria.
God bless you sir 🙏
This is the Nigeria we grew up hearing about, and it’s making a powerful comeback under Renewed Hope.
All 33 Federal Technical Colleges across the nation will now be tuition free, fully refurbished, and equipped to provide students with meals, accommodation, and monthly stipends.
I’m especially proud that one of these colleges is in my hometown, Ogugu.
Having had the privilege of contributing to its establishment, I can attest this isn’t just policy on paper. It’s a transformative reality.
Kudos to President Tinubu for leading with vision and to the Minister of Education for delivering such impactful results in record time.
Let every leader take note: the people want to hear promises, but more importantly, they want to feel progress.
Renewed Hope is more than a slogan it’s a mandate on a mission to revive the Nigeria we once dreamed of. Better days are truly ahead.
I join others in congratulating you on your well deserved appointment, confident in your ability to excel in this critical National assignment. @IsmaeelAhmedB
Dear Nigerians,
Today, we reflect on our journey as a nation and the work ahead to secure a united, prosperous future for all.
Nigeria has 774 Local Government Areas, each one constitutionally recognized, each one home to our estimated 250 million citizens living in diverse communities across this nation. These LGAs are not just administrative zones; they are the first line of government interaction with the people. And yet, it is within these same communities that insecurity thrives: terrorism, communal clashes, kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, farmer-herder conflicts, politically motivated killings, cultism, ritual killings, rape, cybercrime, and drug and human trafficking. All of these take place under the watch of a local government that, in many cases, has been rendered powerless.
Let us be clear: the third tier of government in Nigeria, the Local Government, is suffocating. Structurally weakened, financially strangled, and institutionally ignored, what should be the most responsive arm of governance has been turned into a shadow of itself, largely due to state-level interference and constitutional loopholes.
Despite the President’s ongoing efforts to reposition the local government system for efficiency and relevance, progress has been slow because the system itself is under siege.
We must confront this reality: insecurity will not leave us if we continue to ignore the foundational cracks in our governance structure. You cannot fix a broken house by patching the roof. You must go back to the foundation. And that foundation is the local government.
There was a time, not too long ago, especially before 1999, when our local governments worked, when communities were safer, and councils delivered results. That era did not disappear by chance. It was eroded by years of neglect and political overreach. If we are serious about returning to that era or building something even better, we must stand with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his bid to restore true autonomy to local governments.
President Tinubu is no stranger to grassroots governance. He has been a Senator, a Governor, and now leads this nation as President and Commander-in-Chief. He understands what it means to govern from the ground up. He knows that, even in warfare, no strategy is as critical as the “boots on the ground.” But for this reform to succeed, it needs more than good intentions from the top; it needs loud and consistent support from those around our President and from the Nigerian people.
This Democracy Day, let us recommit to strengthening our foundation. Let us raise our voices and push for a truly independent and empowered local government system. That is how we build a secure and prosperous Nigeria, from the ground up.
Happy Democracy Day.
