🛑 Collapse by Design: The Horn of Africa Rejects Abiy’s Desperate Scapegoating 🇪🇷 🇸🇩 🇪🇬
When a regime's domestic survival strategy implodes, its default instinct is to export blame. Facing an unprecedented, multi-front challenge from the newly formed seven-party resistance alliance (Alliance for Survival , the Prosperity Party (PP) in Addis Ababa has resorted to a worn-out playbook: fabricating foreign conspiracies to internationalize a crisis entirely of its own making.
This deflection has hit a diplomatic wall. Sudan, Egypt, and Eritrea have firmly rejected Field Marshal Birhanu Jula’s accusations as groundless deflections.
🔍 Deconstructing the Scapegoat Strategy
🔴 Manufactured External Scapegoats: Unable to suppress widespread domestic armed resistance spanning Tigray, Amhara (Fano), Oromia (OLA), Afar, and Benishangul-Gumuz, Addis Ababa is attempting to blame Asmara, Cairo, and Khartoum. The world sees through it: the crisis inside Ethiopia is home-grown, born of seven unbroken years of internal war and misrule. 🇪🇹💥
🟡 The "Sea Access" Smoke Screen: The external actors who previously encouraged Abiy Ahmed’s aggressive maritime rhetoric and unviable Red Sea ambitions are now attempting to internationalize Ethiopia's civil war. Rather than addressing genuine internal reconciliation, the regime manufactures foreign adversaries to justify martial mobilization. ⚓❌
🟣 Sudan Exposes the Hypocrisy: Khartoum has categorically dismissed Addis Ababa’s claims as baseless, turning the mirror right back: Ethiopian territory continues to be used as a staging ground, logistics corridor, and launchpad for RSF drone strikes actively destabilizing Sudan. 🇸🇩🛡️
🟢 Asmara & Cairo Hold the Line: Both Eritrea and Egypt have rebuffed these accusations. Asmara has exercised disciplined strategic restraint against years of continuous saber-rattling and unlawful mapping, refusing to become collateral in Addis Ababa’s domestic maneuvers. 🇪🇷 🇪🇬
🔵 The Threat of Escalation: With memories of the 2020–2022 war—which cost over 600,000 lives—still fresh, dragging neighboring sovereign states into Ethiopia's internal conflicts is a perilous gamble that threatens the stability of the entire Red Sea basin. ⚠️
"The ruler who cannot manage his own household always accuses his neighbors of breaking his windows."
The Horn of Africa has matured past proxy manipulations. Sovereign nations will not allow a collapsing domestic apparatus to drag an entire region into a wider conflagration. Internal accountability, not reckless externalization, is the only road forward. 🕊️⚡

Statement by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh at 81st Session of the UN General Assembly; 28 September 2026
“… the imperative for installing a new world order predicated on justice and rationality - and that jettisons the zero-sum system - remains humanity’s fundamental individual and collective right”.
🇪🇷ERITREA’s Week Review at the UNGA81
Eritrean delegation led by H.E. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated actively in the High-Level Week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, advancing Eritrea’s diplomatic engagement and positions on regional, continental and global issues.
This morning, 28 September, Minister Osman delivered Eritrea’s national statement at the UNGA81 General Debate, presenting Eritrea’s perspectives on international peace and security, #sovereignty and territorial integrity, the #Horn of #Africa and #Red #Sea region, genuine #multilateralism, development and other issues of international concern.
Throughout the week, the delegation participated in high-level #UN meetings and interventions, including the 40th Anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development, the High-Level Meeting on Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response, the plenary on sea-level rise, and the 50th Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the G77 and China. Eritrea emphasized sovereign equality, self-reliance, equitable development, South-South cooperation and a more representative multilateral system.
The delegation also held a series of bilateral and high-level meetings with UN officials and senior government representatives, including UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the Foreign Ministers of #Algeria, #Burkina Faso, #Egypt, #Sudan, #Sweden, #Oman, #Singapore, #Andorra and #Greece, as well as UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo, #European #Union special representative and #UK National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell.
Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam, in her capacity as one of the 21 Vice-Presidents of UNGA81, presided over a plenary session during the general debate.
Discussions covered bilateral relations, regional peace and security, the Horn of Africa, Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and issues of mutual interest.
Eritrea also contributed to other high-level side events, including the launch of the State of Africa’s Children 2026 report.
The week-long participation reflected Eritrea’s continued active, principled and substantive engagement at the United Nations, combining the national statement, multilateral interventions, bilateral diplomacy and participation in key international forums while advancing Eritrea’s national and regional priorities.

The Potemkin Party’s latest gimmicks essentially revolve around shifting the blame to accuse neighboring countries for the intractable quagmire and multiple conflicts that it has itself incubated throughout the past three years.
This is indeed crystal clear from the chronology of events:
1. In October 2023, in flagrant violation of international law and basic tenets of the Agreement of Friendship and Cooperation signed between the two countries in Asmara in 2018, the Potemkin Party formally launched its campaign of acquiring "sovereign access to the sea... through peaceful means if possible and by force if necessary". The regime went on to launch an intensive domestic propaganda campaign to agitate and incite its domestic constituencies for a reckless round of conflict and mayhem. The toxic campaigns included utter revisions of history; repugnant denial and denigration of Eritrea's right to decolonization as well as the costly war of national liberation. The latter was often dubbed as a "conspiracy by external forces to deny Ethiopia's historic access to the sea".
2. Driven by the same illicit and delusional agenda of "sovereign access to the sea", the regime stealthily signed an MOU with Somaliland whose full contents were not divulged at the time. This was again a flagrant violation of Somalia's inviolable sovereignty and territorial integrity and an affront to the African Union coming from a regime that hosts the Organization and ostensibly "cherishes" its foundational principles
3. The PP regime has also opted to advance the dangerous interests of the UAE to host a military camp in Beni-Shangul- Gumuz region in the western part of the country for the training of RSF troops, the launching of drone attacks as well as a conduit for Mercenaries thereby exacerbating the conflict in the Sudan.
In the event, the source of regional tension is and remains the Potemkin Party regime. Eritrea, in particular, has remained a primary target of PP's reckless agenda and incessant military saber-rattling as the link below illustrates.

#Eritrea - Hoye Hoye: Ritual, Renewal, and the Art of Togetherness; by Milkla Teklom
*"... Eritrea’s diversified and multi-cultural calendar is stitched with rituals that deeply bind the communities to history, the Christian and Islamic faiths, and the land".
*"...Among these, kudus Yohannes and Meskel - the latter will be celebrated tomorrow - for the Christian communities, stand out as moments when time itself seems to fold: ancient liturgy meets village life, and the ordinary becomes ceremonial. Known locally through the practice of Hoye Hoye, this season of observance is not a singular event but a cycle of three linked celebrations that weave together Old Testament memory, Christian transition, and the discovery of the Cross. In Eritrean towns and highland villages, these festivities act both as a spiritual hinge and a communal festival—a time when men and women assume distinct but complementary roles in preparing for collective renewal.

#Eritrea's delegation, led by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, is participating in the 81st UN General Assembly Debate. The delegation will conduct, throughout the Session, a series of crucial bilateral and high-level meetings reflecting Eritrea's steadfast commitment to the principles of the UN Charter & international law, inclusive and equitable multilateralism, and a just world order.
In this vein, FM Osman Saleh met yesterday UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for extensive discussions on vital regional and global matters. The Foreign Minister conveyed Eritrea's appreciation for the SG's services to the Organization and for his constructive engagement with Eritrea.
FM Osman further underlined the enduring importance of the UN Charter and the foundational pillars that it espouses - i.e. sovereign equality, territorial integrity, political independence, non-interference and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
FM Osman elucidated Eritrea's position on the Sudan that is anchored on support to a united, sovereign and stable Sudan; and a Sudanese-owned, inclusive political process supported by regional and international mechanisms.
On the wider region and especially in regard to the security of the Red Sea and Bab-al Mandab, FM Osman stressed Eritrea's support for safe maritime navigation and international cooperation, while respecting the sovereignty and legitimate interests of the littoral States. FM Osman also dwelt on provocative acts of Ethiopia's Prosperity Party towards its neighbours in flagrant breach of the foundational principles of the UN Charter and international law.
As it will be recalled, Eritrea was elected as one of the Vice-Presidents of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly. In this respect, Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam presided over the evening plenary debate, during the opening day of UNGA81, on behalf of Eritrea and in her capacity as VPGA.

Eritrea is a young nation that consistently stands firmly on the side of legal & legitimate principles in international forums. Its MoA Affairs embodies this stance with composure, clarity, & a steadfast.
Potemkin Party's signature trademark remains boringly the same: a stale chorus of historic revisionism; and, incessant threats of war and invasion in pursuit of "sovereign sea access and maritime power".
These provocative pronouncements are at times sprinkled with double-speak to hoodwink the international community.
Indeed, the language and tone of aggression seemed to have been toned down at the last BRICS Summit while at home, Potemkin Party's senior Ministers and top Military Generals were simultaneously doubling down on the urgency of "correcting a historical mistake without further delay".
The fact is: for the Potemkin Party, the constant variables in the last three years have been, and remain:
- blatant revision of Eritrea's ancient and contemporary history;
- brazen denial and denigration of Eritrea's Statehood coupled with incessant saber-rattling for acquiring "access to the sea".
The Potemkin Party's aggressive policy intent/mindset is again plainly illustrated in yesterday's X post by its official news agency - Fana Media Corporation, Arabic version.
