Last week, our Lead Nurse Instructor Harriet attended the Royal College of Nursing Conference 2026, where she had the opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals and showcase what makes our NTACC (Nurse Trauma & Critical Care) course stand out.

Harriet was also proud to promote our brand-new NTACC Paediatrics course, the first trauma course designed specifically for nurses working with children.

A huge congratulations to the Year 2 & 3 Student Paramedics from Liverpool John Moores University who joined us at The ATACC Group Centre of Excellence for a bespoke CPD day focused on complex trauma and emergency patient management. 👏

Throughout the day, students took part in a series of immersive lectures, skill stations, and realistic scenario-based training designed to bridge the gap between theory and operational practice.

Training centred around the MARCH framework, with students managing simulated real-world incidents including penetrating trauma, submersion injuries, asphyxial emergencies, and road traffic collisions. The programme also included casualty extrication and an introduction to The ATACC Group’s Samurai Laser Methodology.

Using immersive simulation and dynamic team-based scenarios, it was fantastic to watch confidence grow throughout the day, with students demonstrating increasingly strong communication, leadership, decision-making, and teamwork skills under pressure.

Over the last few weeks, The ATACC Group has been privileged to support a number of Counter Terrorism exercises delivered across the North West alongside our emergency service partners.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Police, Fire and Rescue, and Ambulance Services for inviting us to assist exercise planners in facilitating casualty management during several training scenarios.

These exercises play a vital role in strengthening multi-agency interoperability, testing systems and processes, and ensuring that responders are prepared to deliver effective casualty care in challenging environments.

We would also like to thank the ATACC faculty members who volunteered their time to support these events and contribute to the wider learning process throughout the exercises and debriefs.

In addition, thank you to the North West pre-hospital critical care charity for supporting us on selected exercise days and for their continued commitment to collaborative training and patient care excellence.

Well that’s a wrap and what a fantastic 3 days of advanced cardiac resuscitation with some amazing people from around the world!

We started this morning with a summary version of ‘Resuscitator’ to see what our delegates would do, after several days of cutting edge research, evidence and practice, together with a paired final practice of ultrasound guided needle techniques.

Then we were back onto more scenarios with challenging clinical cases such as complex overdose and unstable post-ROSC critical care, while outside the situations and scenarios became even more challenging but every step of the way the candidates upped their game and delivered.

Today was about fine tuning and mastery of skills before the final afternoon of practical REBOA scenarios and the essentials of ECPR.

It has been a truly whirlwind 3 days, but for anyone who wants to take their resuscitation to the next level and to mix with like minded people to discuss the latest principles, research and practice then SPEAR is for you. If this sounds like a step too far ‘Beyond ALS’ then join us on an ARREST course, optimising your ALS as a stepping stone to SPEAR.

🔴SPEAR - DAY 2🔴

The complexity stepped up today with a deep dive into cardiac and cardiovascular physiology - focusing on what truly improves the chances of ROSC and positive neurological outcomes.

Morning scenarios pushed immersive simulation further, challenging teams to manage cardiac arrest through physiology-led decision making, monitoring, and targeted interventions.

In the afternoon, we made the most of the sunshine in our TAG outdoor space - exploring right heart & pulmonary physiology, plus aortic physiology, comparing full occlusion, partial occlusion, and adrenaline.

We wrapped up with four high-intensity scenarios: resus arrests, thrombolysis, REBOA, and prehospital cardiac arrest across varied aetiologies. The day ended with an al fresco EVTM REBOA masterclass from Halden 👏

The progression has been clear - teams are becoming sharper, more coordinated, and increasingly confident from fundamentals through to advanced endovascular techniques. Their CRM and leadership gets better by the hour…but as complexity increases, so does the challenge of managing and positioning kit and equipment in a logical way - there’s still plenty to learn, and tomorrow will bring more cardiac arrests and even more special circumstances.

🔴SPEAR - DAY 1🔴

Today marked the launch of our brand new 3-day ATACC SPEAR course 🚀

This programme goes beyond current ALS - diving deep into physiologically guided resuscitation and pushing clinical thinking to the next level.

Day 1 set the foundation:
From understanding the physiology of cardiac arrest to optimising ventilation, chest compressions, and defibrillation. Plus a deep dive into the 2025 Resuscitation Guidelines and the evidence behind them.

Our teams hit the ground running with the ‘Repeat’ scenario - building teamwork, confidence, and kit familiarisation - before progressing through a series of scenarios reinforcing the morning’s theory.

The afternoon introduces the anatomy and practical aspects of endovascular access for arterial monitoring and resuscitation. Followed by more immersive scenarios integrating advanced physiological monitoring with ALS skills.

A packed first day laying the groundwork for two more days of increasingly complex and challenging scenarios.

Over the last few weeks, we were proud to welcome NWAS HART to the ATACC Group Centre of Excellence for their in-house training refresher. 

Our site is purpose-built to deliver high-impact, realistic training across a wide range of operational environments. From our tactical skills house and extrication yard, to a large indoor warehouse, portacabins, open fields, woodland, and access to outdoor water space, teams can train in conditions that truly reflect the challenges they face on the ground. 

To enhance realism, we offer a wide range of simulation props and assets, enabling immersive, scenario-based learning that strengthens decision-making, teamwork, and clinical performance under pressure.
Supporting the training environment, our facilities include a fully equipped classroom, a simulated emergency department, and refreshment areas, ensuring both comfort and functionality throughout the day.
