The double standard is glaring and it's getting impossible to ignore. When a health insurance CEO gets gunned down, parts of the left turn the shooter into a folk hero—prayer candles, "justice" merch, t-shirts with his face, whole threads explaining why it's "understandable" rage against the machine. When an unarmed woman is shot dead by Capitol Police on January 6, plenty on the same side call it a justified use of force, no tears shed, move on. Flip the script: a high-profile conservative gets assassinated on stage, or a former president barely survives a sniper's bullet, and suddenly the tone shifts to solemn vigils, demands for national healing, furious condemnations of "extremism," and accusations that anyone pointing out the pattern is inciting more division. This isn't inconsistency. It's selective morality. Political bloodshed is tolerable—even celebrated—when it hits their ideological enemies. It's only unacceptable when it comes for their own. That selective outrage reveals the game: violence isn't condemned on principle; it's judged by the target's politics. Too many on the right still respond with appeals to fairness, hoping the other side will eventually condemn it universally or return to civil debate. That hope is dangerous. What we're watching is the steady normalization of asymmetric rules—one side gets a pass on excusing or glorifying violence, the other is expected to stay forever restrained. The stakes aren't about winning arguments anymore. They're about whether the side that still believes in peaceful disagreement can survive when the other increasingly treats elimination as a legitimate tactic. Time to stop pretending this is just heated rhetoric or occasional bad actors. Recognize the pattern for what it is: a deliberate erosion of the boundary against political murder, calibrated to who deserves to live. Wake up before the cost gets even higher.
The US Dollar Index (DXY) is currently around 97 as of Jan 26, 2026—a drop from recent levels but higher than in many past years. For context: averages were ~92 in 2021, ~94 in 2018, ~95 in 2015, ~85 in 2014, ~81 in 2013, ~88 in 2004, ~92 in 1988, ~98 in 1998. All-time high: 164 (1985); low: 71 (2008). It's above some historical points but not at peaks.
