Call me crazy BUT middle school athletes training at 530 am before school and then training again at 330 pm then going to practice and special conditioning is a recipe for disastrous injuries and hate for sports.
Burn out is real. I can’t believe the schedule one of my 12 YO hockey athletes has. This kid is going to need 6,000 kcal at this rate and I’m not sure he even has time to eat the meals let alone be a kid, get his homework done, and have time to think.
Training at the youth level is getting out of control. I played multiple sports my entire life, college athlete, and still train competitively today. A big part of being healthy is rest and recovery. Both of which middle school and high school athletes aren’t getting enough of lately.
Kids need to be kids. NIL deals for youth athletes is also a terrible idea. These are human beings not pawns to make money off of. My two cents and take on the matter ✌️ 🌶️
Athletic Trainers at the secondary school level play a vital role in injury prevention, evaluation, and treatment. If your school/district is serious about the health and safety of athletes, ensure that ATs are present on the sidelines.
“The on-site medical team rapidly evaluated the situation and appeared to respond quickly by immediately starting CPR and reportedly using a closely located AED,” the American Heart Association said in a statement on James’ condition. The USC athletic training and medical staff acted quickly with Bronny like they did Vince last year and have now saved two of their basketball players from SCA. MAKE NO MISTAKE, they trained for this, activated their EAP, and the fact that he arrived conscious at the hospital, neurally intact, says that they did a phenomenal job. #ATsSaveLives
@813JAFERD@doueck_lynne@TizzyEnt Agreed! Urgent cares rarely have MD/DOs, they typically have PAs or NPs. If someone goes in with an ortho concern they don’t even touch them or do any special tests, just an X-ray and told to sit out/refer to specialist. Very limited scope
@ayjm_DATATC Having sessions geared towards trans students/athletes in both Philly & Indy was just for show. I learned a lot from the sessions, both years! When it comes down to it, the @NATA1950 isn’t willing to be an active ally and I am extremely disappointed.
She’s 18. She got accepted to several universities. She picked Morgan State to study mechanical engineering. She vanished last Monday, June 5th. She’s now missed her prom. She missed her Motivation High School graduation Friday. Her name is Shalayla Porter. 1/2
This was probably my favorite play of the Super Bowl. TEAM over SELF. This speaks to the culture Andy Reid and staff have fostered in and out of the locker room.
McKennon could have spent the rest of his life telling his children and grandchildren about the time he scored a touchdown in the superbowl. I'm sure he has dreamed of that moment since he was a child, and knows he may never get the opportunity again. Instead, with 1 min left, he chose to sacrifice that accomplishment to better the chances that all of his teammates get a ring. I will always be a fan. This is a picture that should be put up in every high school gym in the country.
@NATA1950 The immediate action from the athletic training staffs and every first responder was nothing short of amazing.
No matter the level of sport, athletic trainers are invaluable. Thank you for your dedication, preparedness and passion for your craft.
