🚨 This Week at ATF: ATF agents and partners shut down violent offenders and illegal firearms activity across multiple states, from stopping a planned attack in Texas to seizing dangerous machine gun conversion devices in Michigan. ➡️ Mississippi: In an #HSTF operation, ATF and partners arrested 13 federal suspects tied to violent crime and firearms offenses
➡️Texas: ATF, FBI, and local law enforcement disrupted a planned attack targeting the Texas State Capitol
➡️ Michigan: Agents arrested three men accused of selling illegal machine gun conversion devices, some packaged with LEGOs presumably to evade detection
➡️ Texas: ATF supported a sheriff’s investigation that intercepted 116 firearms being transported by a convicted felon
➡️ South Carolina: ATF arrested violent drug traffickers in two separate cases, recovering illegal narcotics and multiple firearms equipped with machine gun conversion devices

ATF has joined the interagency Trade Fraud Task Force to crack down on illicit vape and tobacco trafficking.

The Task Force is a partnership with DOJ and Homeland Security Investigations to stop illegal, mis-declared, and smuggled goods from entering U.S. commerce and fueling organized crime.

Under the PACT Act, ATF has authority to investigate these products as they move into American communities. With unauthorized vape products now making up a majority of U.S. e‑cigarette sales, ATF’s role in the Task Force is a major step toward getting these dangerous, unregulated products off our streets.

NIBIN Win: On November 24, 2025, Houston deputies responded to a shooting and recovered several 9mm casings. A description of the suspect’s vehicle led to a traffic stop, where officers found a 9mm pistol. ATF test fired the gun and entered its casings into NIBIN, which connected it to the November shooting and four other incidents. At The Briefing: FFL Compliance Summit in Dallas last week, @ATFDirectorRC took questions from Federal Firearms Licensees on silencers and related NFA items.

He also announced that formal ATF guidance covering silencers, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, interstate transportation, and related issues is coming in the next few weeks.

West Mifflin Drug Trafficker Sentenced to More Than 17 Years in Prison for Possessing and Distributing Cocaine While on Federal Supervised Release

This is Richard Jasek's third federal drug trafficking conviction during the last 15 years, with Jasek also having been on federal supervised release at the time he engaged in the criminal conduct that led to the second of those convictions.

NIBIN Win: On March 22, 2026, Omaha police recovered .22 caliber casings near a vehicle hit by gunfire. While officers processed the scene, they interacted with a suspect and found a rifle at his home. They later test fired the rifle to enter the casings into NIBIN, and confirmed the match. 🚨 This Week at ATF: Agents seized numerous firearms from California street gangs, helped secure multiple sentences for drug and gun trafficking, provided security support for UNGA 81, joined a fraud task force targeting illegal vape and tobacco networks, and published new explosives regulations and proposals.

➡️ Secured federal indictments for four alleged gang members in California while seizing 37 firearms and illegal narcotics and shutdown an L.A. gang, arresting seven members and seizing 33 firearms
➡️ Ensured significant sentences for multiple violent criminals, including a man who shot at ATF agents in Colorado, illegal machinegun sellers in Virginia, and drug dealer in Oklahoma
➡️ Provided security along with DSS for the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York
➡️ Joined Trade Fraud Task Force targeting illegal vape and tobacco trafficking
➡️ Published two final rules and two proposals to modernize explosives regulations
