U.S. stocks pulled back in trading on Friday after Fed Chair Kevin Warsh advised that the Fed would focus on fighting inflation, raising expectations of a hike at the September meeting. Fed rate hike expectations jumped from around a 40% chance prior to the keynote speech at Jackson Hole to near 60% after, with Treasury yields and the dollar surging higher during the session.

$WTI prices settled lower on the day as traders weighed up the Fed update and rumours of a possible agreement to allow shipping back through the Strait of Hormuz, while $XAUUSD crashed in line with the stronger dollar, losing over 3% on the day.
